Or so they say: news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8421491.stmFrankly, I disagree. I think it is a case of people not knowing what they want. For leisure travel, I really only do want a little netbook for internet browsing and seeing my emails. And I found it perfectly adequate for uploading pictures when I was in Egypt, for example. Why do people want to do EVERYTHING all the time?

Yes, it really depends on what you need. Even for work travel, I basically need to be able to receive, process and send Word documents (or some other software for text documents). A lot of dictionaries and lexicons are online now, including the big Canadian one I posted here some time back, so I don't need as many reference works loaded as in years past.
I do need office software such as Windows or something that is compatible with clients' software. There are economical netbooks available now with this.
A netbook, or a light, small portable computer that doesn't kill my poor old shoulder...
I'm not really interested in doing a lot of techy stuff beyond writing and staying in touch.

I like netbooks, they are easy to carry and convenient. My son uses one at Uni. Good for doing all the simpler tasks.
