Definitely! Working or traveling on a cargo ship seems so much more like a real life of adventure to me than a "cruise fantasy escape". Don't get me wrong, though -- I have been on cruises and enjoyed them very much -- even a Disney cruise out of Port Canaveral! They will never carve fruit (or ice!) on a cargo boat the way they do on a cruise! I like the entertainment, I like the casino, but give me a choice, and I'll take the container ship or the supertanker!

I rather like the way the clouds appear to be coming from the smokestacks [in reply # 57 by dahuffy]

That is one gorgeous photograph, Rikita! Really, studying that picture is a mini-education in how to take a photo.

Wow -- that is beautiful! That's the canoe that my great Uncle Bob willed to my Dad when he passed on. He also willed his property, the family farm in Michigan, to Michigan Audubon. And now the canoe will be going back to the farm, to star in the educational displays in a new visitor center being built in the old barn. Whoa ~~ SUPER picture, Imec, with those strong shapes and colors against the delicate wash of sea and sky And yet again you've scored with your great sense of composition.

Thanks - I don't get to see ships often but have a deep fascination with them - inherited from my Dad most likely.

>>POP!<< That's really gorgeous, and so liquid, if I'm not being too obvious.
There are three small boat photos on this page, and they're all so different in mood.

I was in my car up at the Riverview when this ship came into view through the trees. It was in ballast sailing upriver, very fast. I couldn't get out of the car fast enough to get a shot of the whole thing. It was one of the longest ships I have ever seen. I later found out that it is indeed 800 feet long!!! The Minerva Lisa, you can see a faint glimpse of the Greek flag

I "knew" that the Mississippi was a big river, but i just realized how big it is by the size of these ships.
