Even a non sports fan like me is pretty thrilled about this -- it has made so many people SO HAPPY. My son is about to skate off the edge, he is so excited. He & a friend put together this montage. Fun!

Please tell son of B. he "done us proud'". So cool to see old Tulane stadium. I lived through the demolition of that thing!!! (have a piece of the facade in my garden, maybe I'll sell on e-bay!) Yes, the city is electric!!!!!!!! Would be interesting to see the crime statistics, maybe we can go a day or two without a murder. I am going to photograph Carrollton Avenue during the game, maybe Magazine Street, not a soul will be out.!!!!

Congratulations New Orleans - what a wonderful game. I think you had the whole country (well except Indiana) behind you. You deserved to win.

;D ;D ;D Just talked to my son -- a HAPPY guy! Thanks, Suzanne. This is not as fabulous as what happened a year ago in the US at this time of year, but it sure made lots of people feel more positive.

It was a great game although, the first half had me a nervous wreck,I had to go for a bike ride during half time. The celebration afterwards was unbelievable, although many people did look shell shocked it was so unreal. Am so glad it is over!

Obviously people in Québec supported NOLA, for sentimental-historical reasons. Hey, you have a fleur-de-lys on your jerseys and helmets!

Might that have to do with NOLA being settled by the French? Has always been the symbol of NOLA,the NOLA flag:

In France we accept the fleur-de-lys on the proud symbols of our erstwhile cousins or on historical coats of arms. The coat of arms of the city of Paris below has some, but in modern usage, the fleur-de-lys is considered to be an unpleasant far right wing political symbol. Under the 2nd Republic, the fleur-de-lys was replaced by stars, but the original has now returned (this is the 5th Republic, in case you are wondering).

Yes, I'm aware of the unsavoury connotation of the fleur-de-lys in France.
casimira, of course that is why both the NOLA and Québec flags are fleurdelysés.

This morning, and actually all day today, the vibe here was so incredibly pleasant, even curmudgeons were smiling, there was an actual line for the newspaper, whose headline read AMEN. Pity it can't be that way all the time. Even if one could just bottle it up and release on odd days of the week or something... All over a football game no less. It was so nice to see so many people, so happy.Made me happy.
