A couple of months ago I was given a tiny bottle of home-made limoncello that I saved to sip on during times of need. I finished it off during the horrible storm we had a couple of weeks ago. Limoncello can be really sweet and I can only drink a bit at a time. It’s also not something I’d buy for myself, but it sure was nice to have on hand. Fortunately for me, tonight I had dinner with a very close friend and she presented me with a treat. A very large bottle of good quality, Italian-made limoncello. Enough to get me through several bad storms!

And you're bragging about it?! Even after your birthday in a couple of days, you still won't be old enough to drink, young lady! Danged teenagers!

Just say the magic words "zed fares" and we airline people start babbling I had dinner with a very close friend and she presented me with a treat. A very large bottle of good quality, Italian-made limoncello. Enough to get me through several bad storms! That is a lovely gift. I brought home a bottle of Limoncello from Italy a few years ago, I quite enjoyed a drink of it after a meal and sharing it with friends. Wishing you a Happy Birthday htmb, just in case I miss it in the next few days. All the best, wishing you a happy, healthy and adventure filled year!

Bixa, you’d love the sweet young thing who assisted me in PT today. She said I must only be 27 years old. (I told the girl she was going to be really embarrassed later after she did the math on her phone calculator) Thanks very much, Mich. (Not sure why, but I’m unable to quote members on my iPad these days)

I’ve never tried ordering stamps from the US post office online, but for a little over a dollar handling fee, I’ve ordered both domestic and international stamps to be delivered to my home by my postman. I’m happy I won’t have to visit my local post office which has never been a fun outing under normal circumstances.

Oh, I order stamps from the French post office all the time, and delivery is free. I can't imagine why the USPS would charge a handling fee because you are making their work easier. My post office is right across the street, but it now seems to be doing just about everything except stamps (mobile phones, banking services, insurance, cable TV, etc.). I only go there to pick up or send packages.

well, it'd have meant a lot to me, if a's dad had been willing to stay a bit longer and play with a. while i do the dishes and the laundry, rather than leaving right after i was done with work - but that'd have meant he'd be at home later than usual after his friday afternoon visits with her, so it wasn't possible ...

Maybe you could tell him that, Rikita. He might be able to stay later every other time or something that would be nice for both you & Agnes.

he now redeemed himself quite a bit in my eyes, as he emailed offering to work tomorrow so he will be able to take friday off, and thus pick up agnes on thursday evening already next week (which is one of her dad-weekends, for which normally he picks her up friday afternoons) ...

yes, since last june, so not that long yet ... i think compared to some other people we do get along well with each other, but of course some of the problems we had before remain, and there are some new ones ... i suppose such things are never just easy ...

met up with some family members today, for the first time - went to the zoo with sister in law and niece and nephew. so nice to see them. and the kids all had made presents for each other (each came up with the idea on their own. nephews present for agnes was so cute: it was a screw driver. my nephew is a huge fan of all tools, and sister in law said that was one of only two screw drivers he owns, so from him that is a huge gift. agnes gave him a jigsaw puzzle showing a construction site.

Awww, that is lovely, Rikita! So cool that the kids came up with the gift idea independently of each other. And your nephew is one very loving and generous little boy.

It must have been special to see them exchange those gifts, thoughts and kindness, joyous.
I stopped in at my parents to pick up their bills to pay at the bank for them and I asked my dad how he was doing and he said "okay but I really need a hug." I smiled and said "soon dad, hopefully real soon." Held tears back until I got back in the vehicle. When I brought his banking items back he held out his arms and squeezed them together simulating a big hug, I did the same back. Meant a lot.

Me as well Kimby.
We are so very blessed to have both sets of parents so close, and really have always taken advantage of being able to visit them as much as possible normally so this has been hard on us all. But, keeping them safe and healthy is our priority. My father-in-law turns 90 at the end of May, we are hoping they are allowing groups of 10 by then so the immediate family can get to celebrate together. If not, we have a plan for each sibling and spouse to visit with him on their patio bringing cakes and presents.
I have requested a birthday greeting declaration from our Prime Minister (hoping they are able to get it out to him, but am not really expecting to receive it due to the circumstances). I have emailed the Mayor's office and was successful, they are preparing one for him on behalf of the City that we can pick up form City Hall next week.

Aww, Mich -- it must have been so hard not to give in and hug your dad.
That is so nifty that you're setting up extra-special greetings for your father-in-law's 90th birthday.

I received an SMS from the welfare office of the city of Paris telling me more or less "Your free transportation pass is being renewed automatically this year. We are busy with lots of other shit, so don't contact us about this."

Our library on Sanibel is automatically renewing everyone’s library card for another year.
Not that it’s good for anything right now...

our libraries are reopening - you can't go inside and pick books, but you can reserve them online and go there and pick them up.
