So for the first time ever India will be hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2010. I wonder how this will affect Mumbai? Obviously accommodation prices will go through the roof during the season and maybe beyond. It might be an interesting time to visit the country. Link: 2010commonwealthgamesindia.blogspot.com/

Are the Commonwealth Games as big as they used to be? Bigger? Smaller? I know that a few countries have left the Commonwealth over the years, but since everything is whipped up into a major media event now, it is hard to know that the real situation is.

I actually don't know K. 'Tigar' told me about them and I thought it was interesting that India is doing these games next year. I'm just wondering about the economic affect it will have on Mumbai in particular. It will obviously cost quite a bit to set them up, the question is will it be create enough jobs and income for the local people and economy to cover the costs?
