Thank you. A Mountie, too? I just picked as many of the nice answers as I could find.

The only Mountie I know could probably pick one out for you, htmb. Just let me know what's on your shopping list.
A Sleeman's for Keroauc, too. Pretty damn good.

I got 13 eh. Of course I can see Canada from my front porch. Unless it's really dark and cloudy eh.

OK, enough with the eh, fumo, or you won't get your beer.

I passed with 17 correct answers. We spent the day visiting both of our parents and finished it with a BBQ at my in-law's, pork chops, coleslaw, fries, Caesar salad. My sister-in-law baked two variations of a banana cake. Everything was delicious! Tonight we will hear the fireworks put on by the City from town and may also see some from the beach fronts along the lake.

C'mon, Mich, didn't your day involve maple syrup or a bear? Just for Kerouac? It sounds great, even if they were missing.
My Canada Day: wake up to a couple screaming at each other in the tower across the alley for half an hour. Housework and happy Canada day phonecalls to my brother and father and husband. A friend came over and we drank Provence rosé and snacked on salumi and cheese. Now I'm getting ready to join my godson and his father for Indian food at Siddhartha's on the Drive. Typical Vancouver Canada Day.

Well for Kerouac, we did find deer hoof prints in the garden today! Seems like you enjoyed your day Lizzy! The fireworks have just begun here! Very loud!

OK, my last post for this Day until next year. This is Chris Hadfield, the astronaut from the International Space Station who found fame by singing Bowie's Space Oddity in space. Just for clarity, I do not say "eh", hit my "r"s hard or drop the "g" on "ing". Maybe Mich does back east. But I do have Canadian Tire money in my drawer.

A day late, but I got 17/20. I've been gone from Canada so long that I have an excuse for not getting 20. Mostly guesses about the constitutional stuff.
I add that I never said "eh" and don't personally know anybody who does. My Canadian nephews do play hockey though.

I'd forgotten about this thread.
It was a lovely evening. And the firework pics actually came out quite clear for the first time. I put my new camera on 'fireworks' mode and it worked! Magic.

I do not think I do any of those things either Lizzy but after 5 years in speech therapy I do know that I sound completely different than I did 6 years ago. We have so much Canadian Tire money in the glove box in the car and we always forget to bring it in with us when shopping, it keeps accumulating! I would estimate over $50.00 worth of it!
I hope we get to see your fireworks photos Deyana!

You wouldn't want to brag, would you?

Here are a couple, mich: Like last year we went on this bridge to watch the display. It did get more crowded as darkness fell: It had been a really hot day, but the evening was very pleasant.

Fabulous Deyana! The last one is really good! I have been hearing fireworks now for the last 3 nights and will hear more this evening as there are a few Americans living around the lake. We have an Armed Forces Base here so there are Americans stationed here.

Meanwhile, it looks like Nova Scotia is going to be hunkering down for a spell of rain and wind in a couple of days.

Thanks, mich. I can just imagine the festivities of tonight, 4th July, by your neighbors and friends! Kerouac, yep, Nova Scotia is indeed hunkering down for the storm. I am hoping most of it will miss us here in NB. They always seem to get the worst of it East to us. It is just starting to rain now, the winds have not picked up just yet, but from experience, I know what is coming.

Happy Canada Day, everyone! You can watch all of these in one go if you want. A whole generation was raised on Canadian Heritage minutes, and some of them may suprise you. The Louis Riel one is very sobering. A theatre company in Vancouver is recreating a bunch of these this evening at a big theatre party. The only criteria for the actors is that they must be drunk while performing. I am, unfortunately, stuck in the US at the moment and will not be participating.

Hooray for Canada Day. However, I am wondering if at least the 'Americans' along your southern border sometimes join you in your celebrations. Those of us across the seas regularly forget the exact date, but I'm sure that the people along the northern edge of the United States must at least be aware of it.

Probably not, they're too busy planning their own celebrations three days later.

That was a cute ad, but very shitty mass-produced pony piss. There are far better beers here. As for Montréal, it is the official Moving Day. And it was pouring rain. I had to go buy some wine for our housing co-op anniversary party, and saw some minor disasters with objects being dropped. Fortunately didn't see any gangs of people moving get hurt. The party was fun, though unfortunately mostly inside. I made three pizzas, and yes, they were a huge hit "You MADE them? ?"
