Kerouac -- I had sent Imec a PM suggesting a meeting, and he posted a photo of himself.
I did tell him that he should stay in a cybercafé and post to you guys but he thought I was joking.

This is intolerable. I'm going to see if I can have him banned.

We're already on page 2 of HIS very own thread! Ingrate.

The private limousine tour and dinner at the Tour d'Argent that I had organized for his family is hereby cancelled. And I'm calling City Hall to have Imec quarantined during the fireworks (his children may attend; they are innocent).

And I've only just discovered this thread. Surely he must have some sort of access to the internet? Perhaps he's ignoring us on purpose

Maybe he is just lying on the floor from overindulgence of foie gras?

And still he hasn't posted
When I think of all the dodgy computers I used in Egypt.... There was the one in Luxor so ancient that Mrs Faz had to write out the letters and stick them on the worn out keys. But I kept posting.

I bet he hasn't posted because he's deep in the French countryside where there are absolutely no computers/internet cafes....

According to his itinerary (at least the one he told us,I'm having my doubts now),he is in Paris getting ready for the fireworks.
Baz,I remember well your posts from Egypt and the sacrifices you made for us back here at the Port.

Seems to me there are computers, WiFi places and cybercafés in that town. Well, last time I was there, anyway.

Well, you might just as well give up on imec. As you Canadians undoubtedly know, it will probably be wolf trapping season in Winnipeg when he gets back, and he will be too busy gutting and skinning the carcasses to think of us.

Yeah, imec shmimec, they're all alike. He came across as such a sincere and earnest fellow .Usually I'm pretty good about spotting the bad apples, this one did throw me off though. All those concerts he went to must have finally caught up with him.

OK, look. I virtualy live on a computer at home and I promised I would give it a rest while on vacation and I didn't bring my Blackberry either. I'm at my cousins in Woking, just outside of London. I just gabbed his laptop and have had a quick look at this thread - I've already gotten in trouble once and I'm about to get nailed again so this will be quick.
We've so far had an amazing time. The weather hasn't been as bad as some of you thnk - in fact for the most part it's been perfect for us. We had a fabulous relaxing week in a house in the country near Gaillac, a highlight of which was a delightful tour of Toulouse with a personal tour guide - bjd. I can't thank her enough for this - countres are great, but it's the people that make them special. Paris was everything we expected and more. My kids, who are both in French immersion school have been a great help for us and have been havng a great time. We are now in our final week - staying with family just outside of London. Went to the Brooklands aircraft and automobile museum today, off for a day in London tomorrow. Miss you all and will make up for my absence when I get back. (just got in trouble again).
Au revoir and cheerio for now!

You are missed, Imec, but really you should be giving yourself over to this trip and to your family. Really appreciate your message and so happy to hear that all is going well.

Well, it's our last day. We're heading into London (still negotiating the day's itinerary with the kids). Leave from Heathrow tomorrow just after noon and arrive home late tomorrow night. May have some time on the weekend to sort out some pics and begin something of a trip report. Can't believe how fast the three weeks has gone...

We had a very pleasant flight to Frankfurt but we missed our connection to Toulouse and were not able to get confirmed seats until 21:45. Three seats became available on the 16:50 flight - we made a very difficult decision to take those seats - me, young Mr. imec and Miss imec - which meant that Mrs. imec was left behind. What this allowed for though was for us to get there in time to do some grocery shopping and find the country house while it was still daylight. Our bags would not accompany us but would be on the 21:45 with Mrs. imec. The three of us arrived in Toulouse at 18:30, secured our rental car and headed for the small village of Le Verdier just north of Gaillac. We arrived at the supermarket in Gaillac just in time for the closing of the front doors - and so, didn't in fact get our groceries that evening. Following the directions provided by the owners of our rental house, we made our way to Le Verdier and on to the hamlet of Mas de Landes where after making only one wrong turn up the wrong driveway we arrived at Pechingorp, our home for the next week. After a little look around and a brief rest, we then headed back to Toulouse airport to meet Mrs. imec and collect our bags upon arrival of the 21:45 flight at 23:45. Our bad luck with air travel continued and it turned out that the flight had been delayed and would not arrive until 00:20. We had a little drive around the area by the airport to see if we could find a convenience store to get some basic food items - no luck with that either. When we arrived back at the airport, the flight was delayed further - and so on and so on - until it eventually did arrive at about 01:20. Our happiness on being reunited was dampened somewhat when it became apparent that although Mrs. imec arrived safely, our bags where nowhere to be found. Oh well, we were all together, we were on vacation and we were in France! After filing our report with the kind baggage agent the four of us headed to Pechingorp. Where we all collapsed in our beds almost immediately. (As it turned out, the decision for three of us to take the earlier flight was the right one as had we all arrived at the same late hour as Mrs. imec, the car rental desk would have been closed and we would have had no way of getting to our rental property.)

I took a 18:30 flight to Marseille once that didn't take off until 0:15 and arrived at 1:30 (stormy weather). So I know the feeling. The lodging looks great. I am surprised the you (the adults) collapsed into your beds almost immediately, because when something like that happens to me, I am still completely hyper for several hours. This probably means that you neglected to buy ingredients for cocktails when you did your supermarket shopping. ;D

That is one beautiful rental property! And, of course, les vins de Gaillac...
Hope you had the energy to get to the supermarket the following day - Le Verdier is very small, does it have any shop or market?
Kerouac, they DIDN'T manage to do their shopping that evening. Good thing they were able to sleep and get an early start the next day.
