Today Queen Elizabeth II began her 5th (and probably last) state visit to France. (Naturally, she has been to France dozens of times on private visits, but shhhh! Nobody should know about her secret residence in Le Touquet where a number of her horses live.)

Lovely composition & color, Patrick. Love the multi-flag flags, but echo Questa's question.

I suspect they may all have something to do with a temporary exhibition on in the park, which was to do with ecological issues. There was a booth outside where you could get a certificate of Antarctic citizenship (but since Antarctica is governed by international agreement despite various claims to national ownership of parts of it, you see the point they are making). The "flag of flags" was, I think, on the poster for the exhibition, but since I was all exhibitioned-out after the Musée de la Musique, and it was blisteringly hot, I didn't really want to find out. Following my tongue in cheek effort in the clocks thread, how about this. I hear you all yelling "That's an iris", but the old fashioned like me call them "flags"

Yes ~ cheery, huh? If you look closely at the white one at the very top in the middle, it's Jesus carrying the cross. There are also monstrances & crucifixions & the Holy Ghost.

Bixa, every one of those flags looks crochet. Are they made by individuals or a factory? They remind me of lace collars one of our customers makes with just ordinary sewing thread. If I see her again I want to take photos as they are amazing.

Thanks to all of you, although I don't deserve comments since I failed to say anything about the super photos that appeared before mine -- Htmb's lively parade caught at that wonderful spectator-on-the-street angle, Mossie's brilliant iris & his clever play on words, and Amboseli's wide array with windows.
Tod, the little flags over the street do look delicate, but they're actually die-cut plastic. They are a classic feature of any Mexican occasion and come in tissue paper or plastic.
