There are the official golden oldies that play on the radio stations devoted to such things, but there are certain golden oldies that you have designated as such yourself but you never hear them on the radio. Here is place to post them.
I'll start with - The Captain of Her Heart, pure Euro-pop

How did we ever survive the 1980's?

I've loved this song ever since it came out (1961?). Apparently it's on the soundtrack of Forrest Gump -- a movie I've never seen.

How did it come about that Andy Wm's version of Can't Take My Eyes Off of You became your favorite instead of the better known 4 Seasons version?

The voice bixa. Purely the voice. Valli has a voice that is thin and lacking in depth in comparison. Williams has one that is full, deep and well rounded.

Just to take the "oldies" ball and run with it:

This is an immortal euro-pop song that represents summer holidays to the entire continent.

Oh, glad to see this re emerge.
I survived the 80's by averting my eyes.
Before my brother and sister in law's horse stable business was tornado flattened the first time, Andy Williams' wife boarded her horse there. This is maybe fourth on my lifetime list of near brushes with near stardom.

I have to admit that "Relax" was a magic moment of Euro-pop. (And I am not using the oft decried term of Euro-pop in a derogatory way.)

I spent most of the 80's either visiting or working in nightclubs. I seem to remember the music quite well.

Oh, that could be a problem. I wouldn't want to close my eyes at night and find an endless loop of Annie Lennox singing Sweet Dreams.
