I like the remains of the pre historic forest, so neatly planted in lines like a regiment on parade. I suppose they are the remains of some type of sea defence system.
Swimming in the Channel at this time of year is crazy. I vividly remember being told if we had to bail out into the sea that we had 15 seconds to get our little dingy inflated and crawl into it. Or we would be too numb to do anything and would drown. Cheerful.

I always have a certain admiration for people who go all out for building sand castles. s19.postimg.cc/v12l62mtv/Horti_Berck_185.jpgThe official kite teams were grouped together in the centre of the security zone while they waited their turn to deploy their prowess. s19.postimg.cc/4ha03xmab/Horti_Berck_186.jpgThe flags informed me that this year's teams came from France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Australia, United States, Russia, Netherlands, India, China, Spain, South Korea, United Kingdom and Kuwait. imageshack.com/a/img923/1030/UxMj5A.jpgBut when the wind won't blow, there's not much in the sky, hence the importance of the event lasting for 10 days each year. imageshack.com/a/img924/6905/plTtlt.jpgs19.postimg.cc/tr4rr0t1v/Horti_Berck_190.jpgs19.postimg.cc/be8ru77yr/Horti_Berck_192.jpgs19.postimg.cc/i5z6x1wyb/Horti_Berck_193.jpg

Well, if you never go back to Berck, you will still have the satisfaction of having captured that totally brilliant photograph in Reply #30. Beautifully seen and perfectly captured! I guess honorable mention has to go to the smiley face smirking down at the beached whale. And Mossie is so right about the mossy posts making a striking picture. I note that all the people strolling on the road are well bundled up, making that smiling swimmer all the more shocking. Of course there are the usual complement of stubborn souls there on the bean in shorts and t-shirts -- "We're at the beach, by damn!" The big yellow kite is quite beautiful. Looking forward to seeing what else you see.
