Aah! Mossie, this must have something to do with Halloween coming up. Those skeletons could be expensive...unless it's Gran & Gramps!

A temporary resident of our village. He's called Guido and he's 5.60 meters (18.37 ft) tall.

That is one of the coolest things I've ever seen! *admire*
I don't understand the significance of the dates, though.

It means that the Eiffel tower was erected and the first "bistro chairs" were produced 125 years before the year 2014.

A little bit of background - not far from a posh area of Lusaka is what is known as the German butcher's as it usually stocks meat prepared as in Germany, salami etc. We call there every few weeks for their mortadella and stuff. The owner is now an old man and uses meat from the farm he owns. But he is unable to find anyone to take over the business and keep preparing meat in the same way. Thus the choice is going down even though the quality of what he does produce is still high. The shop will probably close in the next year or two. What the woman is wearing is locally called a chitenge and is a normal type wrap. There is a coincidence that the width is the same as an Indian sari but the length is exactly half as long. Maybe this is determined by the size of the machines that print them or because of some Indian influence. To gain favour, politicians during Presidential elections will print off thousands and distribute them for free, but they do have the image of the politician on them the same size as the one see here. To me it would be somewhat disrespectful to have a picture of someone on your arse, but it doesn't seem to have any significance here. This one would have been printed by a church and given away. I understand it is Jesus's step dad, St Joseph -

She is going to sit on St. Joseph!
Fascinating story about the give-away wrap skirts. Politicians here give away t-shirts, but they're very tame with just the name or the party insignia.
I totally covet her skirt!

If you want to buy one, this is the shop. Cost about $7 each and up normally, but these are the better ones for going out. They are 6 yards long, it says -

There are many empty shops in the town. Graffiti/Print artists were invited to decorate the windows to cheer the place up a bit will try to find more next time I'm in town.

Are les restaurants du coeur still up and running? Are there several per town or city? Some of those chitenge fabrics are lovely - preferably witout a saint or politician. Where are they made?
