Yes, les Restos du Coeur are still all over the place; The problem is that they were never meant to last when they started 34 years ago and now they serve far more people than in the past. That first year they served 8.5 million meals, and now they are serving more than 130 million. There are 2027 centres all over France.

Yes: fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Restos_du_c%C5%93ur This is also in several languages Anyporters speak, including English and Spanish. I remember the dramatic deaths of both Coluche and Daniel Balavoine... I don't know what can be done with all the people who fall through the cracks, even in countries that supposedly have universal health and social measures. I had a very difficult period recently (don't mean homeless or anything, but my main clients retiring themselves) but things are much better now. Have a friend in Paris in a similar situation. He's as educated and pépère as I am.

At first glance I thought there was a school of seals on the beach

And I read your comment as "a school of seats on the beach".

How boringly derivative of the Vuitton store. Dior's furling facade is much more fun.

I'm amazed that people still stand in line to buy stuff at Vuitton.

Yes, when the Drugstore Publicis did that, it was shocking at the time. Actually, the new Dior building is the 3rd building back (counting the Publicis building at #1).

Great images - the Dior store front is really clever. Its interesting that you can see both buildings ( Dior and Publicis) in the first Dior photo
Love the reflections in # 302

Ah, that actually makes it the second building then. I need to be more observant.

This "Morris column" (sometimes incorrectly called a "kiosk" which is a newsstand) distributes free gumballs every 10 seconds as publicity for some DC universe movie coming out soon. The reason for the 10 second delay is obviously because of children who never want to leave.

I knew exactly what this was the moment that I saw it. If you hesitated, this should remove all doubt. The question is whether Singapore Airlines knows that they left it here.

I think it's imperative that you figure out a way to get that back to your home & use it!

From my own airline, I know that these carts are sometimes taken from the airport to bring catering treats for special receptions in the city (and then taken back the airport). However, this was a low rent district in eastern Paris where I can't imagine such an event being held -- unless it was an unauthorised employee party, which is entirely possible. But why would they not take it back? No idea.

What a brilliant photo! I followed your link back to Eldorado in Lille which I enjoyed very much as I had not seen it before. There certainly does not appear to be any wear and tear of these magnificent coloured beasts showing their peculiar poses in Parc Villette..

I got the impression that the paint was brighter, so they probably freshened them up before transferring them to Paris. After all, they had been out in the Lille weather for at least eight months.

I am rarely in thie part of town, but I immediately thought yesterday how lucky the people are who were planning a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Paris right now and it was cancelled until next year, especially if their goal was to take the perfect selfie in front of the Eiffel Tower.
