Thanks so much, Htmb! That is not a posed picture. I was walking along & there the thing was, parked on the street just as you see it. It was huge -- at least 7" high.

That really is a perfect picture, as well as mysterious.

Did you leave it there?

Wow ~~ thank you, Kerouac!
Htmb, I wouldn't have touched it for anything! Anyway, it was still green. If you look hard at the upper left of the photo, you can see the shadow of a parked car. The mango somehow visually & psychologically occupied the entire parking space behind it.

Amazing! Excellent color and composition. Since you left it there, I hope someone else stumbled upon it and appreciated it.

Thank you so much, NYCGirl. It was right in front of a ramshackle building which houses three bars. It would be interesting to know what the early drinkers thought of it.

Haha. Hastings St. is well known for its *ahem* blossoming bootstrap entrepreneurial culture.

Oddly enough, I never get any offers of goods, but I see quite a few transactions going on. And squished giant rats. Today there were a pair of pristine swim trunks in the alley. It's an interesting neighbourhood.

I'm always afraid to try to take pictures in this shop, but I managed two this morning before getting yelled at. (Another photo at post #117)

When decrepit buildings along the street are demolished, sometimes you can see something even older has been hiding in back for 150 years or more.

There are two entrances -- 34 boulevard Barbès or else 9 rue des Poissonniers.

The question mark needs explaining. This is the University college in Ipswich, it is where our idle youth is sent. The authorities very cleverly lend them money to pay for their education(sic), and then expect it to be repaid if they ever earn a reasonable wage. It is cheaper than paying out the dole.

Hadn't realized that was Marilyn. I just thought it was Lizzy's reflection in the window.

They say if you are lost in the desert, just look for a shopping trolley and you'll find water. Also grab your deck of cards and deal a hand of Solitaire and someone will appear to tell you to put the 9 on the 10...and you are rescued.

If not, use the water where the shopping trolley it to have a shower. Then your phone will ring.
