I hesitate to offer this link, as I have no way of verifying it personally. Also, I find this writer's idea of "budget" and "undiscovered" generally to be pricier and more mainstream than what those terms mean to most people here.

Frankly I have no experience with the low cost airlines of Asia because whenever I have been there, the whole point was to cover the area at ground level, no matter how long it took.
However, these airlines are undoubtedly super useful to the people who actually live there, as much as I consider them an abomination for the visitors, if their goal is to skip over the less pretty parts. Then again, I'm the sort of person who would prefer to take a bus from North Dakota to Arkansas rather than flying.
