I am afraid that I must add Christoph Waltz to the list in spite of his two Academy Awards. I have no opinion about his Austrian/German career, but it has now become apparent that he plays exactly the same person in every English language movie that he makes. Big Eyes sent me over the edge.

Well, I can't get through a Tarentino film and I haven't seen Big Eyes so I can't comment, but there are lots of English speaking actors who play nothing but the same character over and over. Jack Nicholson? Even George Clooney.

Waltz's constant smirk is a cross between Jack Nicholson and Gomer Pyle so it is particularly irritating.

Why is Jennie Jacques allowed to "act"? Worse yet, why is she allowed to "act" where I have to see her?

Ditto on that. I read an interview with her and she did at least admit that as an actress she felt "challenged". (she was of course referring to something else). We know better.

I have no idea who that person is. I presume she is found in a TV series?

hm, just read through the first two pages of this thread, and i must admit i was a bit surprised how fast a conversation about acting ability (of both genders) turned into a discussion about looks (of women, and not just about personally finding someone attractive) ... it got back on topic after a while, but still ...
else, i must admit, i am not good at judging someone's acting ability. i might pick out a really bad performance here or there, but else i can just say whether i overall liked a movie and its characters ...

Oh gawwwd ~ I've never had much of an opinion one way or another about Jennifer Jason Leigh except that her name is excessive and irritating. The only thing I could really remember seeing her in was Last Exit to Brooklyn, a movie I hated and thought that Jennifer Jason ( ) furiously overacted in. Anyway, recently I watched Patrick Melrose in which JJ plays a horrible sick old woman with way too much plastic surgery and money. But now I'm watching -- and trying to watch past her -- Atypical, in which it turns out that she really has done dreadful things to her face. She has so much botox and filler that when she forces her face into an expression, it inevitably comes out as a grimace. And I've seen smaller, more expressive mouths on ventriloquist's dummies. But worst of all is her "acting". In real life she is 56, but probably supposed to be no more than 40 in the role. In season one, she was merely awful, but she came back to season two with an even bigger face-full of botox and is now portraying the 40-year-old character as not only kittenish and little girl cutesy, but also with that fakey growly voice so dear to the likes of the Kardashians. I think she is a producer of the series, so probably can't be killed off or anything.

She was pretty repulsive in White Boy Rick, but she was supposed to be.
