Well I thought it was a good match and well played for the most part. I was thrilled there was an early goal as that generally opens up the game, and it seemed to here. Brasil seemed to lose their heads a bit towards the end. Melo's red card was almost a petulant concession of defeat.

I really wanted Ghana to stay in there. A nail biter.

So, only Uruguay is left from the left side of my bracket. I did have Brazil going to the finals. I am honestly not sad to see them go home. Even if I was sort of surprised.
The right side of my bracket is still playing out as I predicted, so I'm crossing my fingers that tomorrow's games continue that positive streak.
However I had the finals as Spain 1st, Brazil 2nd and Argentina 3rd. So if I had money on my bracket I probably would be sad.

I have a meeting of neighbourhood associations this morning, so drat, I'm missing Germany-Argentina - those are two exciting sides.
I think that is Argentina loses, my Argentine friends will support Uruguay...

With the proviso of not knowing anything much about football, yet I support Germany to be the overall winner. Pity their team will be without a key player (forget which one) who was given a red? card or was it two yellows?
Go, Germany

I am the only person I know who is not supporting Germany. The French support of Germany means that the terrible Harald Schumacher incident of the 1980's is finally forgiven.

My daughter and I will watch the match Wed from a tapas bar, sangria half price, and she'll wear her Fabregas jersey. At the pub where we watched Saturday's game the crowd was 80% cheering for Spain. Those at one of the tables looked South American. I started the match thinking I'd root for Paraguay, but Spain won me over by 30 min.

I have seen jsut about every group of supporters from South America passing through Paris on their way to or from South Africa. I think it was a very clever move by Air France to put one of their A380's on the South African route, because it turned out to be an absolute magnet for transit traffic.
The other day, there were at least 100 people wearing Paraguay T-shirts on the Champs Elysées. Without that, I would have never known where they were from. And of course, the 'BRIC' Brazilians are countless and very flashy. Well, they seem to have mostly gone home, for some reason...

OK K, we will be the only ones cheering Spain on Wednesday night! count me in cheering for Spain!! Cripes! I multi-quoted! ;D (where is Bixa? ) Anyway, if it wasn't already apparent. I have been rooting for Spain from day 1. La Roja is my team...always is (or are). (Honestly, I am still enroute to SA to go tend to my poor Sergios's head wound. I'm pretty sure he needs me. )

First I will support Uruguay today! There is a game today . I will not be watching but I think I will quietly support Uruguay too. Though I seem to have the kiss of death, every team that I have supported have, well, kinda lost.

I don't know about that second Dutch goal being onsides but I have to assume the referees know the offsides rule better than I. In any case the Dutch side looked the better of the two so one can hardly argue with the result. I think I'll be at my German friend Heike's house for tommorow's match. I may even crack a beer before noon
