There's one hairdresser and a barbers shop. No bridal shop at all, mostly because getting married isn't a big thing any more!

My post was half a joke based on observation of what is happening here, Mark. Because of the large number of bridal shops around town... but the most frequent occurence are hairdressers (with or without nail salon) ... you can count them almost every other shop window throughout the city and its outskirts. Strange? Oh, yes! How can they survive?

In parts of Paris and other cities, it seems every other retail business is a hair salon. I wonder what flavor of academic economic theory could successfully incorporate that reality without collapsing?

Maybe they are run as a sideline by the wife of a couple where the man has a normal job, to give her something to do.
