Those might be the modernest pictures posted so far in Modern Life!

We'll all be sitting around like this instead of living in another 5 years.

They have made a determined effort to create a home, but it is a very sad picture really. There should be no need for anyone to live like this in a 'first world' country, unless by choice.

That is so strange! It looks more like a meme (<-- modern-life reference) than something real, doesn't it?

That is world class, Kerouac. One picture is indeed worth a thousand words, although the words in that photograph are the icing on the cake. Fantastic composition, too.

Looking at these last few photos a thought crossed my mind....What has happened to the Yellow Jackets in Paris? Never hear about them any longer.

Things are changing fast. This service station offered a choice of charging posts -- Shell or Tesla.

Charging columns are even beginning to appear in Italy, albeit only noticed them on the autostrade, even more slowly than in France. Meanwhile, here it's hard to drive two blocks without seeing a Tesla coming the other way.

Definitely. I was already happy when the French oil company Total changed its name to TotalEnergies, which implies that it has understood that it needs to move away from oil in the future.

My street is going to be torn up for the next three months, but with a little luck, it will be significantly better afterwards. It will be be totally repaved, the covid bicycle lanes will be made permanent, and there should be more trees. For the moment they are working on the central lanes where the bicycle lanes were (protected by concrete dividers), and the original paving stones have been uncovered again. I am delighted to see them for a second time, and now I know that the last time they ripped up the asphalt to put down a new surface was before 1997. Why? Because the information sheet distributed in our mailboxes explained that asbestos was used in asphalt in Paris up to 1997 to make it tougher, and now it all has to be removed.
