I think this is a lovely tale of friendship without pushing the telecom company behind it.

The poor dogs kept getting the worst of it in the banned ads!
When I started watching the French ad I draped myself in heavy can't-be-emotionally-manipulated cynicism, but was sniffling by the end.

I've been struck by the new range of ads that have adjusted to present circumstances (and/or, some might say, jumped on the bandwagon): (I note that Virgin run the same ad in Ireland with Irish voices on the otherwise same "home-made" clips) My blog | My photos | My video clips | My Librivox recordings"too literate to be spam"

The cynic in me always believes advertising agencies are eternal optimists in that no matter how bad the disaster, they will always search for and try and spin the positive side.

I've been struck by the new range of ads that have adjusted to present circumstances We have all of the same type stuff in France. One positive touch is that at some of the advertising times (such as before the evening news, the most expensive period of the day), it is indicated that all of the money paid to run the ads is being donated to health care.

I do like the "if they can do it, so can I" aspect of it. Any minute now it will start working on me! It's helpful how at the end of the video youtube gives you a bunch of exercise options. Gee thanks, Patrick.

There are far too many Covid-19 ads, but I find some of them better than others.

Maybe I'm quibbling, but ...........
I doubt seriously Emirates meant it this way, but that line "the whole world came together & said 'enough, no more'." smacks too close to the what the assholes in places like Michigan are saying.
I think I get Emirates point-- that if we work together & flatten the curve the world will go back to normal, but it's poorly put.

Super effective ads from New Zealand, although I had to turn on the captions in order to follow the second one.

We are getting commercials in France this summer on how to vacation properly.

This plays constantly on the French television channels. It is a very nice message but I also find it incredibly sad (because of the situation of the world).

Naturally, the fact that the grandson is called Sélim instead of Michel or Jacques is also quite symbolic.

I find it fascinating to see how certain countries that are not always considered to be progressive handle the current situation. Here is Morocco.

I know that is not really progressive, but I am a sucker for commercials like this.

What I learned from the US one is that your eyebrows get much bushier when you join the Army.
What I learned from the UK one is not to join the Army.
The US one has an effective message showing that the military could be a viable, heretofore unconsidered career choice. But to my mind it would have been more effective if the viewer knew from the outset that it was a real person speaking, rather than using that as a surprise at the end.
I'm unsure as to whom the UK one would appeal -- Rambo wannabes maybe.

I was looking at French army ads, and they are basically a softer version of the UK ones. "You will be challenged but you will also feel rewarded (and of course have the privilege and pride of serving your country)." Those UK ads seem more like something that you would do on a dare to prove your friends wrong. (Toujours solidaire, jamais solitaire.)

This international ad was shamefully banned from teleivision in France because the broadcasting authorities found it "ambiguous". WTF? The case is now going to the European Court of Human Rights. I'm glad that the EU has such authorities to overrule silly member countries.
