Since I haven't been well (getting better now, thanks for asking) I have had the chance to keep a watch on web air fares. We want to go next Jan/March to southern Thailand but entering from Penang in Malaysia.
I have looked at all the usual booking sites (both English and French). This morning I found Air Malaysia had just what I wanted on the right days. It is London-Kuala Lumpur-Penang for £180 return. Unfortunately there are taxes of £295 on top. But I don't think I can get a 5 star airline flight for cheaper.Even Egyptair is more expensive.

Have u tried Air Asia? They fly stansted - Kuala lumpur to penang, and they're unbeatable on price without sacrificing anything in terms of safety or comfort. I love Air Asia.

I looked at Air Asia. The prices quoted for the dates we want are higher. They are most definitely beatable on value. Don't forget, Air Malaysia is a 5 star airline whiuch Air Asia is not.

Since I haven't been well (getting better now, thanks for asking) Oh, somehow I knew you were going to get cranky about that! Many of us have been following your health reports all across the web -- therefore no need to ask! If you had played the 'I'm not feeling any better' chord, we would have inundated you with questions and advice.

I may need to stir the doctor from his mid-summer torpor. Please send advice.

Go on holiday. Penang next January should do it.

Thanks. But not with Air Asia as Ibonito suggested. I have just put in our dates again. We are paying on Air Malaysia London Heathrow-Penang 950 for the 2 of us. Air Asia on those dates will fly us Stansted-Kuala Lumpur for 1176. Then add on KL-Penang flights. Add on luggage charge. And, I do believe, add on food and drink.
Tell me which offers better value.

That is indeed a reason to feel ill.
There is a whooping cough epidemic in Paris.

I booked the flights on Saturday. I have been curious to know if the offer is still available but I have not been able to access the Air Malaysia ever since. What does this mean?

Air Malaysia went out of business yesterday. (Just kidding. ) (The site works perfectly well for me.)

Yes, I have got through to the Air Malaysia site now. The dates I booked last Saturday that were 950 pounds for the 2 of us are now 1647 pounds. So I am pleased I pounced when I saw the deal.

Now you must stop checking, or you will end up seeing a fare cheaper than you paid. That's what happened to me last time I went to Los Angeles. The fares change every day.

I decided that the flight section of the ticket at 180 pounds return was unlikely to go lower so I am well content.
Now I am waiting for easyJet to announce a sale before I book the Toulouse-London tickets!
