WOW!! What a gorgeous specimen. If that doesn't "sell" people on the merits of foliage alone, well, shame on them. Have you had it for awhile Bixa? I don't recall seeing it in other pics. I am sick with envy.

I love hostas!
Mick, that last picture should convince anyone who thinks plants have to have flowers all the time of the beauty and value of foliage. That's a gorgeous grouping.
What is the plant on the far left?

That reminds me that I would still like to devote the pot where I had my ficus (RIP) with something like a philadendron, another leafy delight.

Lovely specimens Bixa and Cheery! I am thrilled to see this thread get some play.
Kerouac, I would truly recommend you getting a Philodrendron as a house plant to replace your dearly departed fFcus. Minimum care, light and low maintenance.

I see that I somehow missed your wonderful foliage picture, Cheery. Wow ~ you are as brilliant in combining foliage as you are with flower shape/color combinations! That picture is a study in how satisfying and beautiful foliage gardens can be. Took this picture yesterday. It's the same Ctenanthe lubbersiana shown in the picture above from mid-July. The tub it's in can no longer be seen, because of the thickness of the foliage. If you have the climate to grow this, it provides the most beautiful accent in the garden, as long as it doesn't get too much sun.

Fabulous photo Bixa!!!! I would love to have some fabric that looks just like that and upholster a chair with it.

Thanks! Would you choose barkcloth or polished chintz?

Preferably bark cloth but I would settle for chintz. I have a bolt of fabric that I bought easily 20 plus years ago and it was tucked away in a closet. It is polished cotton with a fern motif. I plan to use it to have one of my rocking chairs covered with it.
