Great shot of the pellies, htmb. I also like how you captured the fish in midair.
Tod, love the barbet! I was so pleased when I saw them for the first time. What a pretty bird. And he looks so cute wedging himself into that tiny hole.

I am claustrophobic so whenever I see anything, man or beast, squeezing itself into a tiny hole, I find it unsettling. But the photos are superb.

Of course, since imec started this thread to concentrate on birdhouses rather than birds, I will try to continue to respect that theme.

That looks fairly new, Kerouac. Could you tell if it was being utilized by some little birds?

I did not see any birds using it, but I didn't stick around to watch either.

This bird "house" was built by the bird, right at water level. It's a red-necked grebe nest and we saw over a dozen of them, but the mamas always slipped away as we canoed up for a closer look.

I would sue the contractor if I had to live there, but they must like being right on the water. Seems a bit foolhardy, though.

There was a sign that said that this was the very first contraceptive pigeon house installed in Paris. Meanwhile, I wondered if the other resident dined off roast pigeon often with his (at least) 2 dogs.

Clever birds, they rely on the warmth of the bulb to incubate the eggs

Oh ~~ didn't think of that, Mossie!
I tried to see inside the lantern, but I guess the hot birdy breath had steamed it up. A friend had an 2nd story terrace with a wicker shade over the patio bulb. A bird had built a nest in the shade & dangling from it was the delicate string & paper tag from a tea bag.

Yesterday I saw a huge heronry in Stanley Park in Vancouver - at least 100 nests, with birds sitting two by two. Didn't get much of a shot of the Great Blue Herons, but I did get some of their nests.

Pretty cool, Lizzy. I visited the webpage, but couldn't connect to the camera. I'll try again when I'm not on my office network.

Yes, do, htmb. The birds are a little hard to see because they are well camouflaged, but you can see the beautiful blue eggs when they shift their big butts!

An enterprising bird has built a nest in the unused slot made to hold "doggie" bags (neighbors all supply their own instead).
