Another heatwave predicted in the southwest this weekend. A touch of frost this morning (2°) because the sky was clear but the sun is shining and we'll probably get about 15° this afternoon. No snowflakes here either.

They promised rain all day in Paris but it was weakly sunny most of the time. The rain finally began about 18:30.

The hot dry weather has set in here, rather too early in my opinion. Not that I ever want it to set in anyway.

If I had done any research beyond being dazzled by the knowledge that there is a 365-day growing season here, I would have found out about the half year of dry weather. Oh well. In many ways we still have better weather than anywhere else. For one thing, when it's hot out, you can go into the shade & it's perfectly comfortable.

We have not really had a winter here at all.
In fact, it's been so very mild temperature wise that nothing in my garden died back although some seasonal plants are emerging quite early.
We have had quite a bit of rain especially of late, which is coaxing many of seedlings along quite nicely.
Temps in the 50F's at night, and, daytime as high as 80F.
Of course all this could change in a heartbeat.
We could get an arctic blast at any time.

There have been highs in the mid-80s the last few days. It's 70 outside right now, though, overcast and breezy. (4:25 pm)

I wanted to take a long walk today. The temperature was amenable to this plan, but there were very unpleasant gusts of wind, so I went home.

We had a pleasant weekend, just above 0C, sun/cloud with a little wind. We spent Saturday afternoon at a cottage down the road where 6 of our friends did the polar plunge. They cut a hole in the ice (the ice measured approximately 18 inches thick!) about a 2 foot square, placed a wood plank across and then each, one at a time, sat down and then dunked in over there heads. They quickly jumped out and made there way to the sauna at the shore. My husband and I watched and took the video and photos. Afterwards we sat around a fire enjoying some s'mores and drinks.
I also did go snowshoeing, I really enjoyed it.

We have relapsed into wintry weather for a few days. Some of the "middle mountain" ski resorts had already closed because there was absolutely no snow, but they should get a little before the weekend.

Interesting but brief hail shower at the moment. I am always amused to see the unprepared people running in the street. I am a bad person.

After enjoying about 5 days of feeling spring like weather and noticing how much of the snow has melted, a winter storm is now on the way for this evening through to Saturday. Estimating up to 40 cm of snow. Our new snow shoes are expected to arrive Monday so I will get some good use out of my winter SALE purchase! Gosh, Mich ~ you almost make winter seem like fun! Being that I am not a winter person Bixa, I have decided to try since my husband and friends will all be retiring in the next few years. I need to be ready to keep up with them! My friend comes out and hikes the hills out here all summer and winter (which I can not do) and I know she wishes I could go with her so when she suggested I try her snow shoes and walk the shore of the lake this past weekend, I had to try, now we can do something active together!

That is very cool, Mich! It must be wonderful for you to get out there even when there is snow on the shores of that beautiful lake, and just perfect that you have a friend to go with you. I've always thought you were an amazing person, but that you can have a positive attitude about another 40 cm (over a foot!) of snow makes you downright awe-inspiring!

There were gusts of up to 117 km/h in Paris today. One person was even killed in a car on Quai Branly near the Eiffel Tower when a big tree suddenly fell on it.

How tragic! I am always afraid to be out in the wind, so many trees around my home have come down due to wind.
We are in the midst of the promised 40 cm. of snow! I can not see across the lake for the blowing snow and so much has fallen that I can not see the stairs that lead up to the driveway. Nice fluffy snow, it will be perfect for snowshoeing!

You are an optimist, Mich. I think by the end of February I would be hoping for spring if I lived where you do, not looking forward to snowshoeing.
Here it has been windy, rainy and generally gray for the past few days. It was 13° but didn't feel nice at all.

We had some very wet snow which did not lay this morning, I thought we had escaped any snow this winter, then the sun came out strongly for a while.

Storm Jorge is here now. I got soaked through when I took the dog out this morning. I had to put dry clothes on before I went out with my sister Peggy to a garden centre. It was horrid out there, wild, wet and windy.
