Cool July so far in Paris. But it is still at least 22-23° during the day, so that's fine.

the wind picked up and as I was walking on a street lined with white crape myrtle trees at their peak full of blooms, all of a sudden there were white flecks, hundreds of them swirling in the air as in a snow storm in July. It was exquisitely magical. No one else around I felt like Alice in Wonderland if only for a block. Best thing I've read all day! I don't think I've ever seen a mass planting of white crape myrtles, probably because they seem less robust than the watermelon-colored ones. That just sounds so lovely. We are having what sure seems like a normal rainy season this year, thank goodness.

Naturally, I thought of you Bixa when it was happening and again while writing about it. I never knew until recently that the white ones have a faint fragrance to them but, only at a certain stage when they're in bloom.

I wouldn't have been able to tell you that, Casimira. Really, to me the white ones are almost exotic. It's pouring here and there is some thunder.

Yet another repetitive rain post: it's coming down so hard that I've had to close all the windows regardless of which way they're facing. The patio got flooded in just a few minutes, and the porch is soaked. There is thunder & lightning & the electricity is winking in and out.

Another gorgeous day! We have had mostly sunshine and 25C+ weather for almost a week. Went in the lake twice today.

Oh my Bixa! That looks like you had quite a storm. The photo makes me think of my husband today, he is at work and has had quite a few calls due to a storm we had here, but not as serious as what you had yesterday. Cloudy morning led to an afternoon storm due to high humidity from the past couple of days. The skies have cleared and the humidity is back, I would say worse than this morning.

I feel kind of badly because I didn't know parts of the city got hit so hard until I read about it this morning.
Sounds like you all are going to get more rain. Hope when your husband's turn of duty is up it will be blue skies again.

Looks like a real mess! Our Juneuary has smoothly transitioned into Julyuary. If you like cool and green, you'd love it.

Cool & green is where it's at! (sounds like an ad for menthol cigarettes)
I like rain a bunch.

Looks like a real mess! Our Juneuary has smoothly transitioned into Julyuary. If you like cool and green, you'd love it. It's for sure been a perfect summer, weather-wise so far. (Not counting a pandemic, of course.)

I'm glad you were spared any of that Bixa. Yes, what a mess.
We have had 3 days of heavy rain. Intermittent heavy downpours so no street flooding. Likely a shower or two today. It gives me a break with the gardens I am caring for on my block and my own. The frogs and the toads had a love fest last p.m. There are three water features on my block all in a row so, they had their choice of places to party. Also, keeps the temperatures down but, not the mosquitoes.
Mich, your lake swimming has me so envious. I would so love to have a cool body of water to swim in.
Tomorrow, back to the heat although, much drier air, so they say.

Warnings of a massive cold front were announced yesterday and they weren't kidding. The wind is icy but there is still plenty of sun. A ton of snow is said to be on the way.

You all were ready for rain there, weren't you Casimira?
Tod, I didn't know that it snowed where you are!
Two rainless days in a row, but it left behind lots of mosquitoes and gnats.

Windy as heck today! But the cold front has not reached us yet - 26C today which is lovely. Oh yes Bixa, it snows on the Drakensberg mountains every year but some years the snow falls in the foothills too. That means I can drive 10 min up to Hilton Village and see the snow in the distance - or, I can drive another 30 minutes or so and be right in it. Building snowmen and having snow fights! It doesn't last long and so when it arrives the whole world descends on the little dirt roads in the foothills. Their vehicles slipping and sliding in the mud of the melting snow. I have wonderful photos of us right in the falling snow. What a wonderful experience! Yes, I am going to give posting them here another bash….be patient with me.

High 20s again today but there are some clouds too. I don't know if it's going to rain or not, although we need it. Everything is dry.

It was already getting too hot for me in Bordeaux -- close to 30°. I was happy to return to Paris. It is actually the same temperature in Paris today, but for one day only, and I turned on the air conditioning.

That is downright scary! Hope you're able to stay inside during the worst part of the day. It rained here all night long and on and off all day today. I think the inside of my head and everything around the sinus cavities must resemble old decking boards -- all mossy and green and warped.

Hail is the worst! Usually it waits until everything is perfectly leafed out so that it can destroy more at one time.

PERFECT comet-watching weather last night. Calm winds and no clouds, once it finally got dark enough for the stars to come out.
And come out they did, every single one of them! And a very milky Milky Way running through it all.
Hope it’s that nice out tonight so I can take Mr. Kimby to the top of the hill to see Comet Neowise.

variable,. I love the flemish name for that ,wisselvallig,. I guess I can go back to Belgium now, since I know two Flemish words. (Although the last syllable in wisselvallig will probably defeat me.) forvo.com/search/wisselvallig/
