We had at least 10 sporadic downpours today but only for about 5-10 minutes each time.

Not good casi. Stormy here like October. I was out in it for about 4 hours and then had to stop. I was cranky, irritable, and exhausted. Even drinking copious amounts of water and taking brief rest periods in the shade didn't help much. I would trade places with you in a heartbeat.

I know what you mean. The older I get the less do I like heat,

16° and cloudy here this morning. Lots of complaints of "we"ve had a lousy summer so far" but I'm perfectly happy when it's not too hot, and in fact it's hasn't been too bad. Still have all August to get through.

Another scorcher here today, a repeat of the last few days with an alert issued by the NWS. I anticipate a "brown out", (loss of electrical power) as the infrastructure here is so third world, all the AC's running, it's inevitable.

Hope that you do not lose your power Casimira. The heat sounds dreadful. We are opposite here, quite cool about 19C this afternoon with rain approaching. Finishing up getting ready to attend the wedding of our goddaughter, looking for my umbrella.

How exciting Mich about your Goddaughter's wedding!!!! Have fun despite the rain.
I too, am hoping we don't lose power. I decided that I am taking today and tomorrow off from doing anything at the "old" house for both my mental and physical health. It's just going to have to wait until Monday. I was so wiped yesterday and T. was bordering on heatstroke at one point. I have also told my lady helper to not go over there and do anything by herself. She could possibly suffer heatstroke and no one would know it until she showed up MIA lying in the backyard. It is downright dangerous.

Heat stroke and heat exhaustion creep up on you. You know you feel sick but there is the tendency to want to just finish the job and get a drink/ cooler place when you have finished. A few years ago we had four separate deaths of young, healthy men, each working alone installing insulation into ceilings. While the temperature might have been mid 30s in the shade on the ground, these lads were working in 50+ and not drinking enough water. The supervisors were punished for not checking or warning their new workers of the dangers.
I see my friends on this forum are learning to live with heatwaves. Check up on your oldies and youngsters at least twice a day and follow the advice given in Government brochures or Google medical advice on the subject.
As Casi says, "It is downright dangerous".

Our darling goddaughter is now married!! It was an outdoor wedding on a golf course with a beautiful pond with a large water feature. However it rained all day long. They were insistent on being married under the flowered covered arbour. We all shuffled out with rain coats and umbrellas to witness the wedding ceremony. We were drenched! We then scurried over and inside of the three large tents where the dinner would be served. Thankfully we were deep into the tent seated with the parents of the bride so we did not feel the coolness or feel the dampness as badly. The bride and groom were soaked but their faces were shining with happiness.
Our second Goddaughter is getting married in September, I hope the weather is better!

No danger of heat stroke in Paris. We are barely getting up to 21° every day.

Like in Paris -- definitely not a warm summer yet. Right now (8:30 am), it's 16°, raining on and off and with big dark clouds blowing from the north. I don't like it when it's too hot, but so far I've had no complaints this year. Of course, it's the beginning of August so it might still get hot.

Let's not forget our furry friends as well. The asphalt can get so hot from the sun beating down on it that it can burn their paws. That and making sure that they have an adequate amount of water available at all times.

As so often happens, it gets nice in the afternoon after a lousy morning and early afternoon of rain and unseasonably cool weather. Now at 8:30 pm the sun is shining and it's 21°.

We had a downpour last night. We needed it after the very hot temperatures of late. It really cooled it down. This a.m. is pleasant, only around 79F. It will heat up as the day goes by but hopefully not as hot as it was this past week.

That's it! We can blame the shocking Oz team's ineptitude on global warming. At least they have done well in the "Don't catch COFID " contest. With all the ball tossing and handling the virus could spread faster than a D K Lillee delivery if it got into a touring team.

We are having our first rain n over 50 days here, just in time not to break our all-time dry streak. Nice to hear it hitting the roof. It was getting crispy dry and the plants are all stressed. Of course it won't be enough to help the plants much but every little bit helps.

Nothing like real rain after a drought!
We had another afternoon rain today. It was of brief duration but a much harder rain and accompanied by rather violent winds. It blew in directly from the east & I though the tree in my patio was going to be blown over.

Pleasant and sunny for me and forecast to stay like that for a while. My tomatoes will be pleased.
