Paris is still back under seasonal temperatures while I left the toasty warm (and burning) Mediterranean coast.

It’s monsoon season where I am in Northern Arizona. Yesterday there were massive flash floods, with more expected today. The weather forecast looks good starting tomorrow, so I’m hopeful this is the last of it.

It has been unseasonably cool here these days -- we didn't get over 21° today, but it is supposed to get hot on Friday and Saturday.

Just over 30C today, extremely humid as well. I did not even step outside, stayed inside with the air conditioning as I had preparations to do today for the 65th Wedding Anniversary celebration here tomorrow for my in-law's. The weather tomorrow is predicted to be the same with the possibility of thunderstorms due to the accumulating humidity.

We have had extended drought and “heat domes” in the northern Rocky Mountains this year. Fire season and smoke season gets longer each year.
This afternoon it clouded up and a gentle rain began. That was good, but there were at least 5 lightning strikes within a mile or so of our house in the woods. (You count seconds between flash and crash to estimate distance - 5 seconds per mile.). The rain stopped and sun is back out. So we will watch and wait to see if any fires were started by the lightning strikes. It can take days or weeks for a smoldering tree to blow up into a fire.

today is more or less sunny and warmish (22C), tomorrow supposed to get rainy - so it will cool down and monday, when we have swimming tickets, it is going to be quite cold (18C) ... not sure if we will go, anyway (maybe just once into the water and then home again - after all, the water temperature should still be the same, you just can't warm up much when you take a break - and waiting at the slide is cold, but then, if it is cold it should be quite empty, so no line at the slide) ...

Another day of 30C temperatures and it is also still very humid. No rain or thunderstorms yesterday as predicted. It is unusual for us to still be this warm so far into August and it is supposed to continue for another week!

At last! Rolls of thunder and a sprinkling of rain. We are expecting major snowfalls quite soon. Even predicting it will snow in Johannesburg not since 1981!

One day, some time in the distant future, someone might find and decipher this thread.
"Look" they say "It is all there in order...how the predictability of weather was considered normal, how they gasped when the temperatures went a few degrees over so-called average. Then here when the climate unleashed final warnings, floods, and terrible fires, landslides...
" And here" says another, " where they watched island nations sink beneath the ocean and glaciers melt and the warming of the planet altered the course of their lives forever."
"Look at the way they documented it as it happened" says the first," hot dry spells becoming full- on droughts, and snow in unusual places a mere observation."
They paused, remembering their grandparents' stories of beaches and green fields and clean air. "If only they had wise leaders who could see that every decision has to put environment ahead of money or we all perish".
They close down the antique computer and the ancient thread waits another generation.

feels like the weather is completely unreliable right now. today was kind of sunny, though not that warm considering it is still august. other days it is rainy, but very difficult to plan - each time you check the forecast it changes what days will be rainy and what days will be okay. planning a party for agnes on sunday (kind of a birthday party, as her birthday is in january, so that wasn't possible this year and who knows if it will be possible next year), and when i started planning it looked like it will be nice, then. now, rain is announced ...

the weather announced for sunday is getting worse, it seems. well, today also rain was announced, but it was sometimes rain sometimes sun. just wish i knew what it will be, so i could plan accordingly (and of course i'd much prefer sunshine - like, with a child having a winter birthday, it would have been so nice to celebrate in sunshine and warm weather for once ...

On Saturday is snowed for the first time in many years. Snow fell right past us and coated the high ground just short of 20Km outside the port of Durban. It didn't snow at our house because I think we are on the side of a little hill and don't get frost either. Just 3km up above us it snowed in Hilton but soon melted . Today it is very hot in the sun after our chilly weekend.
