Finally had a big rainstorm today, but it wasn't enough. At least it broke the heat.

Yes, I'm cranky.

Cool, sunny and no rain...Federal Elections today. I think the Labor mob will beat the Liberals but there are many independents standing and I foresee deals being made. I live in the electorate which has the narrowest margin in the country. Since early 20th century it has voted Conservative, this time I think a Labor member will win, with a gaggle of independents tip-toing around the Canberra Parliament checking where they got lost. The PM is likely to lose his seat, smarmy sod that people avoid shaking hands with. Too late to send help to fire and flood victims, and with vaccinations. Time's up, SCOMO.

Hot forecast again--temperatures like Bixa's today and tomorrow here in southwestern France. Hotter in Toulouse than here, so I'm glad we moved where there is at least some wind off the ocean.

The effects of the breeze can't be underestimated. Yesterday's airless heat was almost panic-inducing until the evening breezes kicked in. I just went to look up precisely the distance between Bordeaux and Toulouse & came across this map which nicely shows how the somewhat broken coast delivers water-cooled breezes over there in the west. It's also interesting because of the promise of zippy rail service in less than ten years. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGV_Bordeaux–Toulouse

There have been protests again that high-speed rail line for years, Bixa. It has finally been approved but will not be ready for a few years.
Those protesting mostly would prefer better local rail links rather than huge investments to allow Parisians and tourists to get more easily to the south coast.

Seems hot weather and hot tempers abound to the west of us. Things are cool here. Rain non-stop thee whole day.

Continuing heat wave along with high humidity. There is a slight breeze and along with the cloud cover it is tolerable.

Only up to 22° today and some breeze. We had a bit of rain this morning but not much.
Meanwhile, my son in Canada told me they are still without power after big storms went through southeastern Ontario and parts of Quebec on Saturday afternoon. They had a beautiful crooked pine tree on the shore of the river and it got torn out and fell on his canoes and kayaks.

After 29° yesterday, there was a bit of thunderstorm during the night but not much rain. Cooler temps for today but the weather service seems to underestimate temperatures every day.
