I spent the morning holding my mother's hands (and holding her down!) while the doctor sliced cancerous patches off her face and the assistant sopped up the blood with compresses. Then they sewed her back up. Frankly, it was not one of my favorite spectacles, but I now feel that I can improvise a full face transplant if necessary. Any volunteers?

How awful, so sorry for your mother's ordeal! My daughter, the acrobat, managed to fall and cut her face open requiring stitches right between her eyes as a child. It was quite disconcerting, as first it bled quite a bit, then after it ceased you could see the facial muscles beneath, which had miraculously been unharmed. I'm just imagining your experience being somewhat like that, must have been very disconcerting, and then having to hold her down!

This is my grandson ready and prepped for surgery for the third time after breaking his arm whilst riding his scramble bike. Hard lesson to learn when you have that powerful steed beneath you and adrenaline pumping through your veins! The arm was setting incorrectly so went back to have a steel pin inserted and this is the surgery to remove the pin after several months. As you can see a boys best comfort is his cellphone.

Is this the same grandson who smashed up his face a while ago?

What is a bit outrageous is that those of us kids who never broke anything were always jealous of the casts the victims wore.

Is this the same grandson who smashed up his face a while ago? No, That was is younger brother and did that riding a normal two wheel bike! The dentist ( also my dentist) did a wonderful job getting his tooth to grow bank).
