Does anyone know how to get the full poop on what is going on with this airline? Their website has no comment at all about their recent troubles. I know people who have Mexicana tickets (international) for the end of September for an important family event. The reservations were made a few weeks ago and paid for with a credit card. Should they cancel and make other plans?

I hadn't heard of this. I would like to think that Mexicana is too big to go under, but that's what we thought about plenty of other major defunct airlines as well. Hard to tell what a ticket holder should do. Sometimes things start up again, and sometimes arrangements are made with other airlines to honor the tickets. Probably best to wait for more news while elaborating a plan B just in case.

Bof. I have flown on Alitalia on several occasions. A bit confusing at the airport to start with but we got there on time and they didn't lose my luggage. The blogger admits that he has never flown on Alitalia and doesn't know anybody who has, so he's just trying to be amusing.
As for Mexicana, obviously people with tickets have to wait and see.

Yes, I have taken far worse airlines than Alitalia. Anyway, the company called Alitalia now is a brand new airline created in 2009 by the merger with Air One and is controlled by Air France-KLM, even though they own only 25% of the company for the moment.

My friends who have Mexicana tickets for September recently got a friendly email telling them that their flight had been changed by five minutes.
That link in #2 bodes very ill, though.

I saw on the news this morning (on Al-Jazeera, I think) that Mexicana had suspended all flights. That's two international airlines in one week, the other one being Sama, one of the two private Saudi Arabian carriers.
