Here they are pictured at Lords on Saturday. George on the left, his 13 year old brother Joe in the middle and their friend Tom on the right.

How did George go with his demonstration? I guess if Blake and George continue to develop as they are, they will be bound to meet up at the MCG or Lords one day. Wouldn't that be a laugh for Any Port people. Let me know if George gets a club exchange over to Adelaide and I will attend his matches and cheer him on. The chap in the neighbouring unit to me had 2 lads from your northern clubs stay here for 16 weeks, played club for the Flinders Uni team. I've forgotten names but one could bowl a bit and the other batted at 3. They spent most of their time on the nearby beach burning off several layers of skin. Aust. beat India yesterday I was going to put the score sheet on here with explanations, just in case someone wants to learn.

It went well Questa. I'll post some more Lords pictures later.
Unfortunately England only have an Under 19 side so a bit too early for him to have a chance yet.
As soon as he's 18 he wants to go to Oz. Our overseas player last year was an Aussie and he'll keep in touch with him.

I toured Australia in the 1970's and several of our team got badly sunburned.

Mick, how on Earth were they allowed to build that monstrosity media centre over the 'hallowed turf'? Who is the statue bowler? Not Larwood I hope Adelaide Oval has just had a complete rebuild, but they had to keep it 'in character' Looks great.

The bowler isn't anybody in particular Questa. It's just called "bowler". There is also "batsman" at the other end of the Nursery Ground.
Adelaide Oval is one of the most beautiful cricket grounds. Glad they have kept it as it was. I also managed to see the SCG before they got rid of the "hill".

Great win by Ireland over West Indies in World Cup. Certainly was...so glad now I helped myself to some of those 18/5 odds before I headed out that night. Now - let's get Ireland into the top flight of cricket and playing as often as they need, to be consistently competitive with the other top sides...

We shall see.
My wife is Irish but I'm not sure if that is sufficient for George to qualify if he does turn out to be good enough. I shall find out.

Probably turn up in the England team, like KP and the others. Brings back memories of the Packer years when it was Aus v Rest of the World.

I'm getting a loooong way ahead of myself but as he is 75% English he would want to play for England but Ireland might be a fall back position.
Incidentally he played in a game last season with a Dutch International who said that if George had been Dutch he would already be in the National side. That rather took us aback but as far as we know there are no Dutch ancestors!

I wonder why we never see the Dutch play here. They have had teams playing for years.

I am leaving tomorrow for a quick trip to New Zealand. Next Saturday the Australian Team plays the New Zealand team in NZ (Eden Park) The sparks always fly when these 2 teams play each other, dating back to An Incident many years ago.
It turns out I will be watching the match on a big screen at the local pub in a farming settlement even Google has trouble finding. I foresee I will be the only oz there, but the locals have been preparing for this event with much glee.
Should I wear green and gold ribbons on my hat or would the Coroner declare that suicidal? It should be a lot of fun, I can handle being the butt of jokes.

Oz v NZ should be a great game. Looking forward to seeing it.
Yesterday George was offered a sports scholarship with Stevenage Football Club - a League 2 side. It would mean him training each morning, playing a match on Wednesday and studying sports subjects at college in the afternoon.
He isn't taking it up - the likelihood of becoming professional is very slim and the education aspect too limited for him.
Plus he wants to concentrate on cricket (I'm pleased to say).

I wonder if France even has a cricket team.
I just looked it up, and actually they do. It plays in the European 2nd division, whatever that is.

An "appalling vista" for England if Ireland qualify for quarter-finals after they have been eliminated - unlikely but not impossible...

Anything is possible...just looking at the Aust V NZ Match shows that. I was sitting in a pub in NZ taking all the flak as the NZ bowlers tore Oz apart, then appreciating the long silences as The Kiwis collapsed as well. Then the roar went up as NZ won by the skin of their teeth.
My "magic moment" of the competition so far was the look on the Afghanistan bowler's face as he got the 1st wicket in that country's international cricketing history.

All the talk is about Kevin Pietersen playing for England again.
A retrograde step if ever there was one. No chance.

Awesome innings of 237 not out by Martin Guptil. All proper shots too - nothing fancy that I saw.

Well, the World Cup is over for another 4 years. It could have had more exciting games...most were fairly predictable. England bombed out without much of a fight and a few surprises came from the 'associate' teams.
The high point was the involvement of the crowds...huge and with dress-up clothes, colour, music and good nature. The final between Oz and NZ drew 94,000 spectators, many from the sub-continent who, naturally, cheered for NZ. I did not hear of any nasty incidents...it was all a lot of fun.
Which is what a game of cricket is all about, after all.

Would have been more exciting if McCullum's dramatic exit had been called a 'no ball' and NZ had not dropped their bundle.
Overall there were many instances of marvel...how about the reverse sweep keeping the face of the bat down and hitting off the back. Kiwi batsman but I've forgotten his name.
Umpiring was good, too. I'm glad Clarkey went out on a high. Hope he is OK for the Ashes
Please include KP in your squad...Ozzies love a villain to hiss.
