The former couple have been fighting over paying the gardener, so the exterior probably looks worse than ever (I have not been back).

I'm wondering if this sweet little house ever sold.

Nope, still on sale. I know this even more so because my friend owes me a considerable amount of money that cannot be repaid until this place is finally offloaded.

The interior looks completely acceptable and I'm sure the exterior and garden wouldn't take long to sort out. Not in 5 minutes of course but within a year could look amazing. Could I ask the name of the village Kerouac?

Except for Paris and a few rare other places, real estate is still not selling well. And with economic problems in the news every day, I don't think that house is going to sell at that price. Anyone with that kind of money to invest in a country house isn't going to buy there. For much less, you can get a nice house with a pool in the countryside in southern France (Quercy or the like).

They never expected to sell it for that price anyway, but I don't now what the "real" price is now. Meanwhile, Baz Faz is selling his house in the Lot also: marminiac-maison.weebly.com/contact.htmlHe is not expecting to get that much either.

Seems to me they weren't there all that long.
Anyway, that looks about a rather reasonable price, although they don't say how big it all is. And the area is better than northern Burgundy. But again, that's a country house -- not much use for commuting to work in a town or city.
