That's awfully interesting. I'd always thought of it as "a building", whereas it's actually a group of components.
The video does raise lots of questions, though. Kurokawa says there are 140 owners -- is that the number of capsules? Also, it appears that although there are individual owners, there is not (never was?) any kind of condominium association which would impose fees to keep the place maintained. It's also unclear as to how bad the deterioration is. He talks about "replacement". That must mean there is a factory somewhere already tooled up to make new capsules to insert. Finally, he says that people would be willing to pay 20 million yen for a capsule, yet the present capsule owners are indifferent to them. I'm assuming that's because the present owners see the whole construct as borderline slum property, only waiting to be torn down, whereupon they'll get reimbursed for something they're not using anyway.
