Hey, there's some really good stuff there, but I bet that traditionalists are just as dismayed by such images as when Monet painted subjects like Gare Saint Lazare.
Anyway, I like it -- thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Interesting. When I first started looking at the paintings, the name that came to mind was Edward Hopper. Then I read that Hopper was one of his influences.
It all looks rather 1950-ish.

Indeed and Edward Hopper is one of my favourites.
Very true about Monet and I really love his non water lilies/garden pictures.
Have a look at Alain Bertrand as well for 1950's.

Looking at the "recent works on canvas" of Allen Gorman, I was reminded of David Hockney. But where Hockney's photo realism has always felt shallow and icy cold to me, Gorman's work has an approachable warmth to it. The trucks, for instance, are not only celebrations of form and texture, but a happy nod to how people love such vehicles.
The "paintings 2007-2009" definitely remind me of Edward Hopper, with maybe even a touch of updated Grant Wood thrown into a few of them.
Thanks for this, Mick, I'm happy to know about this painter.
