Here's a lively and admirable person ~~ John Wilcock wrote the first editions of “Mexico on $5 a Day,” “Greece on $5 a Day” and “Japan on $5 a Day” for Arthur Frommer in the 1960s. He started a Travel Directory which is still going. He also co-founded The Village Voice and Interview magazine. Quote: "Everyone’s turned into a travel writer." Read the article.

One of the key points that he makes in that article is that travel writing has become personal in modern times rather than impersonal. That makes me think that we should all get out some of our oldest travel books and quote some passages from "back then". The world has changed so much...
