Seeing those rosehips reminded me that they can be used in numerous ways. Wikipedia gives all the uses including 'itching powder' from the tiny hairs inside. There doesn't seem to be a seed as such so I suppose that is why roses are only grown from slip......or are they?

What plant is that the seed of Casi ? These berries are on the Snowy Mespilus in my garden. As fast as they ripen the birds eat them confounding my plans to make a flavoured gin with them .

What a beauty Casi. I also want the Gin flavouring recipe. At the moment I have been dropping some dry Kaskade petals into the bottle - it turns a beautiful pink but theres no flavour.

Those aren't even artichokes, just thistles I think -- they look huge in the photos but they are not really all that big.

Well then I was right ;D OK, half right The globe artichoke (Cynara cardunculus var. scolymus) is a perennial thistle of the genus Cynara originating in Southern Europe around the Mediterranean.
