Fascinating, Cheery -- great pictures! I never realized before that some sand sculpture, such as what you show, is really and truly sculpture in the sense of chipping away at it to create the work. From the description of the wet builders sand hammered into a block, it would seem it would be more at risk when it dried out, rather than from the rain.

Howdo. Recently I've been working some killer shifts (building up my pension) so haven't been out much...BUT Recently went to a little plant fair at Donnington Le Heath...that was nice. there were only a few stalls but the plants were of excellent quality.

Well, THAT looks like a fun day out! Love that everyone looks happy and that there was something to appeal to everyone.
What's up with the "real junk food" -- is it made from supermarket produce and stuff that was going to be discarded?
The Brockleby's Pies -- wow! Are those old-fashioned raised pies? They are absolutely stuffed with yummy filling.
I'm jealous of your plant purchases -- so pretty and healthy.

I like the contrast of "food with provenance" and "the real junk food project."

Brockleby pies are stunning but terribly expensive, they are stuffed with locally sourced produce and jolly delicious. (altho not as nice as my own home made pies I must say...I do make a mean bacon and vennison pie). Most of the pies on sale were at least £8 which imo is far too expensive.
The real junk food project 'Feed bellies not bins' has eateries all over the world. They use food that is destined for landfill either because it's reaching it's expiry or isn't pretty enough for the supermarkets to sell. We're asked to pay what we can afford, or what we feel the meal is worth...surprisingly people (who can afford it) tend to be quite generous...and the less well off can eat out and just contribute what they can afford.

Sounds like a good plan, Cheery.

I agree, there is far too much food waste because of marketing hype and scaremongering. Feeding bellies is far more important.

Looks like a lovely day full of bright colours and yummy scents here and there! I have a few little ones that would like one of those Lego necklaces! I will have to keep watch at our local market to see if they appear here this summer.
