I just spent a long and fascinating moment using the new Google word tool which makes graphs in several languages of how often words have appeared in texts over the past 300 years. I tried cities (London,New York,Rome,Paris,Berlin), political systems (socialism, communism, capitalism), famous people (Hitler,Roosevelt,Churchill,Stalin), writers, foods, etc., and it is really amazing how certain words or places or ideas go up and down over the centuries. You can put a string of up to 6 terms and see a graph of it in just a second.
