I was out this morning just as the sky began to lighten and just can't figure out why so many people are asleep on Sunday morning at 7:30. One of the street markets for lazy central Parisians was just beginning to set up. In my part of town, the markets were already in full swing. It doesn't really rain in Paris every morning. The entire city gets washed down by these guys every day.

Wonderful pictures! They're sort of a dream of Paris for those of us who've never been there. Thanks.

We wonder what K2 was doing dead-centre at that hour, but it is, like, none of our business, hein?
Is that rue des Petits-Carreaux?

Beautifully evocative. Sunday mornings are just the best for having the streets to one's self.
(Washed down again. The drinkers do a fair job the night before ;D )

I do know you do appreciate where you chose to live. These photographs show how hard the city workers keep the streets of Paris. We have, fortunately, woken early and walked the damp streets of this wonderful city too, it is a beautiful experience I would recommend to all who visit. Cheers, Mich

Now that I've got my new camera this thread reminds me that I need to do my 3AM bike ride through Paris photo/video montage.

Great photos as usual Kerouac2, - I thought the Xmas lights at McD's particularly beautiful. Actually, all the photos without humans have that haunting feeling that the photographer is the last man on earth - everyones buggered off to Mars ;D

Is that rue des Petits-Carreaux? Actually, those were just the streets around Les Halles like rue Berger, rue Saint Denis, etc. The market being set up is the small rue Montmartre market.

Just to show another street on another day, here is the Champs Elysées this morning on my way to the office. At 8:15 a.m. it is still quite nice, because the hordes of tourists and workers have not begun to invade it yet.

That's 8.15am? I'd completely forgotten about the darkness that envelops Europe during the winter months...
