That's a wonderful video, kerouac. I would so love to go to Africa, again, but I doubt it's in the cards for me. One of the most outstanding impressions I had was how tough, smart and ambitious the women are. Also, how exploited and abused they are. They work non-stop and struggle every day, somehow with more grace than I could ever muster. One of these days I'll locate my old pre-digital photos and scan them in here somewhere. I might as well plug my favorite charity: Women for Women International

A few years ago, I worked at the Nobel Women's Conference on ending sexual violence in conflcts, and while of course there were survivors from many parts of the world, from Bosnia to Mexico to Southeast Asian countries, there were many from the wars in a swath of central Africa. Many courageous women; look up Women Rebuilding Rwanda and you will see everything from parlementarians to local project leaders.
