Ironing...mmmm...one of my favourite activities.....right up there with trapping my hand in the car door or banging my head repeatedly on a brick wall until I pass out....

^ Wat Cheery said. Add to that; washing dishes, cooking and housework in general. *yawn*

Women just aren't what they used to be!

Can I? No, not hardly.
Oh, are you referring to the ironing clip? I enjoyed that a lot. I like his technique, and his obvious pride in a job well done.

Women just aren't what they used to be! Thank goodness. Even the most modern women frequently strike me as quaintly old fashioned in many respects.

Where do I get him, please? As I am ironing this week's stuff right now. Oh, back to the question.... No, it seems. Perhaps he can please me? At least if he irons stuff. And maybe puts the laundered sheets back on my bed. And takes the trash out. I really don't need much. Maybe....

But seriously....I tried to iron my OH's shirt in a similar manner and it ended up looking worse than it did before I washed it... I haven't got the huge table/ironing board he has tho... I only iron a few things, if you whip things straight out ogf the dryer and onto a hanger they generally don't need ironing ;D My nieces never iron anything at all..and doesn't look particularly crumpled.

When I was in secondary school in the U.S., there was a class reserved for girls called "home economics" so they could learn to become the perfect housewife. Most boys took "shop" so that they would know how to use the tools in the garage. I don't remember what in what class I was enrolled to avoid "shop," but I really regret now that both sexes were not obliged to take both classes. I still don't know what was taught in either of them or if it was useful, though.

When OH worked abroad he got used to having all his laundry done by a professional. Nowadays he's just as likely to be doing the washing as I am. BUT he never EVER irons. The chores seem to be pretty much divided equally in our home, altho I do all the cooking, ironing and jobs like cleaning the bathroom.
One thing that's always struck me is that men (those of my acquaintance anyway) these days DO do more domestic chores when they are in a relationship, but they tend to cherry pick...whereas the women just do what needs doing. I'm sorry if I'm generalising too much here. Times have changed tremendously, in the good old days I thought that it was perfectly normal for me to do all the housework, work full time and care for the children as well as studying for a professional qualification. It never occur ed to me that it wasn't perfectly fine for me to work a 24 hour shift at the hospital then go to the supermarket and carry the family shop home on the bus! Nowadays I wouldn't DREAM of doing such a thing...
Maybe it was because my Mother was a housewife...my father wouldn't allow her to go out to work so she did everything in the home and was responsible for all the childcare. My brother only had to keep his bedroom tidy whereas I was expected to do any chores about the house that Mum asked me to....

mr. r. is ironing ok i think, and he doesn't mind it too much as he often irons his shirts. i iron my stuff only when absolutely necessary. so that is actually one of the reasons i wear saris very seldom - can often get away with an unironed churidar, but not with an unironed sari. in germany i never ever ironed though.
but ironing for mr. r.? on specific occasions maybe, like if he needs an ironed shirt but doesn't have time i'd do that as a favour to him, same as he might iron something for me in such a case, but generally i think we will continue to each iron our own stuff when we think thta is what it needs...

..., but they tend to cherry pick...... You think I cherry picked cleaning the bathrooms? I got press ganged into that once and now I'm the perpetual, eternal bathroom cleaner...

It's tough when you have different standards, even slightly different.
Mr. Kimby will jump in and do a job (like scrubbing out the toilet) that should be my job (since he's the one pulling down a salary) a day or so ahead of when I would have done it. Then it doesn't need doing, so I get a pass for at least another week, but he may feel resentful about "having" had to do it.
If he would just bide his time one more day, it would have gotten done. Or maybe two days....
