I know that you are right, given the after effects of the incident I realise that it could have been much worse. My colleagues are very supportive and completely in favour of change. ;D

For years I Chaired our Health and Safety Committee. Every inquiry or complaint was recorded, discussed and resolved. It is essential to have issues that seem silly or it was just a small injury, logged and resolved. That is the only way to work towards the safest working conditions for all. I am so very glad Cheery that you are well and have returned to work. The committee's will help to resolve how the accident happened and that is very good for everyone. Take care, Mich

Cupboard and cabinet doors are a danger everywhere, even more at home where you can hit yourself all alone with nobody to see you lying dying on the kitchen floor. It's surprising that sliding doors are not more popular considering the huge number of accidents.

Last week I stabbed myself on the top of my head on the corner of a shelf. It's the second time I've done it. Lots of blood again.
I manage to hit my head on things with monotonous regularity....

As a H&S committee member I would suggest Cherry that automatic closures be installed on the doors where it is possible. There are many new closures on the market for different applications, it would just take your management sourcing the product to find one that would work for the doors needed in your workplace. Cheers, Mich

Are you exceptionally tall, Mick, or are cabinets in your home &/or office poorly placed? When I'm tired, I get clumsy and manage to blunder into all kinds of stuff in the house I should know to avoid. The latch on my car's trunk is an evil device, lying in wait for even the wary. After two decades, I hardly ever whack myself with it, but even when I warn people about it, they manage to get hit by it. I've taken to holding my hand over it, when possible, whenever people load stuff into the trunk for me.

It's surprising that sliding doors are not more popular considering the huge number of accidents. Speaking of sliding doors...I wish I had a nickel for every person I knew who had walked right into a closed sliding glass door. Some of them weren't even drinking! When I worked at a veterinary hospital, we had a patient (a large doberman named "Cosmo") who had managed to paralyze himself from the neck down after running full tilt into a sliding glass door, poor thing.
