I'm kind of surprised (and still wondering if maybe I've missed it) that there isn't a thread on "light" - you know, those pictures where the subject matter is not all that interesting but where it's all about the light. I think this one fits that category...

I'm gazing at your lovely photo Bixa and am sure it is the strange light that eminates before a storm - all plants and trees reflect a vivid greeness in a sort of golden light - the blue sky behind looks like a storm is brewing. Hope I'm right!
Imec - I think you have captured 'light' perfectly with your photo!

Your photos capture the morning light so well Bixa! The cockeral crowing and announcing the start of the day with feathers whirring in the breeze! The fabulous rays of the sun behind a cloud and the sunlight striking the leaves of that exotic fruit which bats love!

I didn't know that about the bats.
Actually, those are evening pictures. The first & third were taken in the afternoon of March 17, between 5:30 & 6:05 pm. The rays were taken March 19 at 6-something pm.
I can see how you'd think they were morning pictures. It was that strange golden light that prompted me to get the camera.

This thread is bringing out some outstanding photos. I just love those days when the foreground is brightly lit by a low angled sun against a background of dark storm clouds. It usually stops me dead in my tracks just to admire the drama. I am also taken aback when I see those streams of sunlight in the sky filtering through clouds as in Bixa's wonderful sky photo. I seldom see them here. Maybe they are more common elsewhere?

Damn, Bjd ~~ outstanding! Not only are they fabulous pictures in terms of subject and composition, you really caught that elusive way that certain lights make objects simultaneously clearer, yet almost unreal.
Thank you, Fumobici. I am fascinated by this topic, as it has us looking at things in a really different way. Re: rays ~~ I think where you live and where I live could not be more different in terms of elevation, terrain, climate, etc. And I don't remember seeing such well-defined rays anywhere else I've ever lived.
