Very sorry to hear that. Hamilton was a steel town like nearby Buffalo NY, but the indstry died there too. Many artists and other cultural workers have moved there as rents and mortgages are through the roof in Toronto. Note that he was far younger than the groups considered at high risk... It really is a horrible disease. I do wonder if he had prior health conditions. A story from his hometown: www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/covid-cordero-hamilton-theatre-tribute-1.5638683

Ennio Morricone will be sorely missed, although he was already missed since he had passed the age of composing more film scores.

Here is a bit of serendipity: I went into my Rome albums on Flickr looking for something else and came across this picture that I'd totally forgotten about:

That is very sad, though it does seem admirable that some couples in showbiz can have such lasting marriages (or other forms of domestic partnership).

It was mentioned that Olivia de Havilland was only the second oldest actress in France. Renée Simonot last acted in 1990 but only for dubbing old ladies and is now 108 years old. She is Catherine Deneuve's mother.

Awwww. When people manage to get that old, you kind of think they'll somehow just keep going.
Just looked up Renée Simonot. Catherine Deneuve came by her looks naturally!

Her sister Françose Dorléac, who died at only 25 in a car collision with a signpost, was just as beautiful as Catherine. They played twins in one notable film. Françoise was the elder, but they were very close in age. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fran%C3%A7oise_Dorl%C3%A9ac

Director Alan Parker has died, age 76. Midnight Express, The Commitments, Fame, Mississippi Burning, Angel Heart, The Wall, Evita, Birdy among others. Yes, I know they were not all masterpieces.

Certainly is - One of my favourite films was The Commitments and another not mentioned Shoot The Moon . Maybe I should not admit it but I also have a certain fondness for Fame - In my defence I was was only 20 when this was released and I loved it when I saw it that year.

The Commitments was a great film. I would always watch it if it comes on.

Me too Mick. Although I admit to having some difficulty understanding some of the dialect at times. I loved Shoot the Moon too. Its an obscure film but well worth the seeking out of. Some really memorable scenes. The pairing of Dianne Keaton and Albert Finney brilliant.

I saw it in France where subtitles can be very useful on occasion (just like with Danny Boyle's Trainspotting).

Chadwick Boseman has died at age 43. Colon cancer. Among his roles were Jackie Robinson, James Brown and Thurgood Marshall before hitting the big time with Marvel as the star of Black Panther.

This one really hit me hard. I'm a big fan. He was such a charismatic talent and an all-around good guy.
I remember seeing Black Panther with my little nephew, who probably should not have been allowed to see a PG-13 movie but was so excited to see a black superhero that we allowed him to go with us. He had stars in his eyes the whole time watching it.
I was teaching at a school in Brooklyn when the movie came out. The Monday after it was released, the dean of the school was talking to the students about the movie during morning motivation, and she mentioned how remarkable it was to see people who looked like her reflected on the screen.
My heart goes out to his family and to all of his fans, especially the little ones who looked up to him.

Yes, I'm very sad about that as well, and he was seriously ill during some of his most important roles. As well as his wife, this must be very, very hard for his parents if they are alive.
