While the actor will be missed, Darth Vador will not be missed.

Not quite sure this fits and it is regarding the death of a famous person upon which a famous film was based, if you see what I mean. Anyway, Chuck Yeager has died. He being the first person to break the sound barrier and the subject of The Right Stuff film.

Dame Barbara Windsor has died. I know she was a "Carry on" legend as well as a fixture on "Eastenders" but I have never lived in a country that benefited from those elements of British culture. To my surprise, she was only 83 years old.

Major French character actor Claude Brasseur died today at age 84. He came from an acting family since his father was Claude Brasseur (Quai des Brumes, Les Enfants du Paradis). His son Alexandre is also a successful actor. Even if you don't recognise his name, you have seen him many times if you have ever seen French films.

Anyway, Chuck Yeager has died. He being the first person to break the sound barrier and the subject of The Right Stuff film. I was 5 at the time and my Dad would read any appropriate newspaper reports to me. After explaining about the Sound Barrier, speed of sound and what a brave man Chuck was, I couldn't understand one thing..."Why did his parents call him 'Chuck'?" (in Oz it means vomit)

Cloris Leachman is dead of natural causes at 94. Though best known in America as Mary Tyler Moore’s friend Phyllis on TV, she also acted in movies. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/cloris-leachman-emmy-oscar-winning-actor-dies-94-n1050111“The actress also passed away with one Oscar statue on her mantle, earning the 1971 award for best supporting actress in "The Last Picture Show." She played Ruth Popper, the lonely wife of the town's high school football coach. Her film career also included a fan-favorite performance as Frau Blücher in Mel Brooks' comedy classic, "Young Frankenstein." “

My favorite role of Cloris Leachman's was always the one in Last Picture Show & I was always frustrated she wasn't in more drama roles.

What a class act and major talent. What she had to endure in her lifetime being both a woman and Afro American and carry herself with such poise and grace is an inspiration. A national treasure.

One of the most amazing things about Hal Holbrook was that he started playing an age 70 Mark Twain when he was only 29. And since he played Mark Twain for 60 years, he ended up seeming incredibly old, even though he needed less and less makeup as the years went by.

Canadian actor Christopher Plummer has died at age 91. His first noteworthy role was in The Sound of Music. He started as a stage actor in the 1950s and was extremely well-known in Canada. It's amazing that he worked for 70 years, unlike some flash-in-the-plan actors.

Apparently he was not a big fan of the movie that made him famous. He even called it ‘The Sound of Mucus”.

Much as I admire Tyson and Tavernier, "The Sound of Mucus" is the earworm.

From the article: Roger Ebert wrote in his review, "She is something like flypaper; the more you struggle against her personality, the more tightly you're held."
She also escaped my notice over her long career. Probably because she was an ACTRESS, not a celeb.
