No, I mean Andy Devine, the previous version of Ernest Borgnine.

Did you mean Andy Devine with Froggy?

Well, okay, if you say so. The only resemblance I can see is the gap between the teeth. Lauren Hutton has that, but she doesn't remind me of Ernest or Andy.

I would never have thought that Simon Ward was already 70... which is nevertheless too young to die.

That was my thought, as well. It gave way to jealous resentment of Anghared Rees for having had a relationship with Alan Bates.

From TMZ:
Tony Scott's fatal leap off an L.A. bridge was captured on tape by multiple cameras ... one showing Tony crouched the moment he began to jump ... and TMZ has learned the shots are being vigorously shopped around ... for a price.
Multiple people reached for their cell phone cameras when they noticed a man climbing over a fence on the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro in the middle of the day ... and continued to roll as he jumped off and plummeted to his death.
Some people took photos ... some recorded video. The footage was also captured by a surveillance camera from a nearby business. TMZ has seen the footage ... but we did not purchase the material. It's unclear if another media outlet has taken the bait.

She really was a hoot!!!! Our family grew up watching her show, my mother just loved her!!! Yeah, she was a favorite at our house, too. Oddly, the thing that most stuck with me about Phyllis Diller was the flurry of publicity and chatter when she had plastic surgery (the first time). Now we take it for granted that celebrities will alter their looks.

Michael Clarke Duncan was so perfect in his role in The Green Mile. I can only echo the same K. when I heard this news this a.m. What a brilliant performance, positively haunting.

I first saw reports of Pierre Mondy's death on Facebook. His english-speaking entry on wikipedia said the same, but I couldn't find anything else and his french-speaking wikipedia entry didn't mention the death...
Le Monde confirms it so I guess it is true.
Au revoir Monsieur Mondy!

They actually pulled the Sunday night movie, Scorcese's The Departed, tonight to show an old Pierre Mondy comedy instead on TF1.

Goodbye Nagisa Oshima (Empire of the Senses, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence), goodbye Michael Winner (Scorpio, Death Wish 1,2,3).
Obviously, we will miss Michael Winner much less.

just learned about the demise of Harry Carey jr a couple of weeks ago - a regular feature in John Ford Westerns (and thus part of the John Ford Stock Company), yet also a number of other notable appearances. I'm glad he seems to have had a fulfilled life... p.s. as regards that film with Mevrouw Kristel, I recall that it actually made it into the program of arte a while ago, so it's safe now to claim having seen it on a 'serious' channel for its cineastic relevance...

Goodbye Harry Reems. You had your brief moment of glory in the 1970's.

Richard Griffiths died two days ago from complications after a heart surgery - the younger crowd mainly knows him as Vernon Dursley from the Harry Potter series, others probably recall his double role as Dr. Albert S. Meinheimer/Earl Hacker in The Naked Gun 2 1/2, anyway he could look back on an impressive list of supporting roles in a number of decent films...
