But she's been in the news since everybody knew that she was dying and the trashy press loves that.

But she's been in the news since everybody knew that she was dying and the trashy press loves that. Indeed. It sells.

A very funny man indeed. Monologues like The Driving Instructor, Tobacco etc are still hilarious. RIP.

In France her most famous role was definitely considered to be A Woman Under the Influence.

Alain Delon, one of the most iconic French actors died today at 88. He is considered as a monstre sacré and you can’t watch 5 French movies without seeing him.
I never like him, however, neither as a man or actor. As an actor I find he always played the same kind of character. Lonely, seducer, a bad boy. As a man, he was clearly extreme right and racist.

His departure was overdue.

The French media are displaying only photos of him from 60 years ago which is when he did his best work.

I came here to post this also. His was the first daytime talk show I ever watched, and he had a good long run of 29 years, earning 20 Emmy Awards.

Never heard of him. We live on separate planets sometimes.

I don't think he was seen outside of North America except in the UK and Australia where some of the channels needed to pad their dreary schedules.

Perhaps others know him as the husband of Marlo Thomas?

Oh, you're just now getting those details? His dog has had a better life than his son Ari that he had with Nico (never mentioned among his children even though it was obvious since he looked just like his father). Probem solved since he died last year.

Italian TV is all about Alain Delon today, he must have been big there. I've barely heard of him myself.

I remember how he was disappeared from network TV seeming minutes after he questioned invading Iraq post 9/11. *edit* I guess it was Desert Storm some ten years earlier. Time flies!
