I can't stand canola oil (the Canadian euphemism for rapeseed). I think it may be one of those substances stinky to some but by no means all. I use only olive and sunflower, sometimes peanut, except for some specialised oils such as sesame.
But that field is very pretty.

I like the oil and use it often but the flowers yuck and they are a nightmare this time of year for hay fever sufferers but yes very pretty, thanks Lagatta. Hoping its not too long before you are on a road trip K2 .

About 1980 I had 5 weeks off work in the summer due to bronchitis, which I am sure was brought on by the stink of rape which used to drift into the car as I drove from job to job in darkest East Anglia. Now I have the dreaded letter telling me I may die at any moment so to go out is under pain of death, all because of a diagnosis of slight asthma.

How do you shop for essentials (groceries, loo roll, etc) if you can't go out at all?
Yes, the loo roll is a bit of a joke; the majority of the world's people still don't use it. Even access to toilets is problematic in many parts of the world - see World Toilet Day.
Sometimes confinement is necessary, but it produces other problems.
And I think canola is stinky to some but not all. It was developed to replace other cooking oils that had more adverse health effects.

Frankly, except for olive and sesame oils, I find all of the other ones extremely similar -- rapeseed, sunflower, peanut, etc. I just buy the cheapest one out of the lot.

I live in a sheltered location near the bottom of a slight valley and my small garden has 6ft fences so it keeps the wind off to some extent. This area is near to being the driest part of the country, so all in all, we have it easy weatherwise.

Mossie - The last time I saw the same shade of crocuses poking their heads out of the grass was at Monet's Garden in Gerverny. But it wasn't spring - so do they grow all year round? I am sure we were there in late September.

I thought they were out of season Autumn crocosi, they are self setters, I have no control at all. You must understand that I was only the third under gardener and when the boss pegged out I have no idea what to do and leave well strictly alone.
