So...is it possible to post a series of photos, say 15-20, by simply typing the caption in Quick Reply then adding the image to the post for each photo. I can see that other members posts on different subjects may appear in the chain unless there is a way of storing the posts and then sending them all together. This would eliminate the need for a hosting site completely (otherwise what is the simplest, no bells-and-whistles, "even a moron can do it" hosting site that won't do the dirty on us? just testing

I don't know if I completely understand your question, Questa, but there is no way to eliminate the need for a hosting site. My preferred hosting site is Flickr, but there is a trick to getting the urls to post here. It is not difficult, just a matter of a person wanting to go through that or not. Kerouac has been recommending Postimage and I find it an excellent hosting site and extremely easy to use. If I'm reading your question correctly, one of the things you want to do is to streamline picture/caption posting by typing a series of captions in the message box, then adding each caption's picture below? Further, you would wish to be able to post two or three picture posts quickly enough so that no one would have time to intersperse comments between those posts. Is that correct? For the first part of that -- setting up a post with captions & pictures -- Postimage is ideal. Type a caption, go to the appropriate picture in Postimage and grab "hotlink for forum", paste it below the caption, then go on to the next one. As far as having more than one big picture post ready to go immediately after you've posted its predecessor, you can make up all the posts you have planned for the unbroken sequence and paste them into a document. Paste & post the first, ditto with the second, etc. I'm assuming that your picture above was posted using the "Add image to post" button. Since I have suggested to people that they register with Imgbb if they're going to use it here, in order to have access to their hosted pictures, I also have to point out that I've noticed that the pop-up tied to the Imgbb button here warns "log in not secure".

I may have to appeal to some of the more tech savvy members for a step by step tutorial, folks like Bixa, K2, Mark and some other prolific pic posters for assistance. I'm just trying to put together a bit of a guide for it then. Bear with me.

Basic guide to using the Post Image hosting site.It is a reasonably easy website to use and for me, for now, seems the best option. When you click on the link to the website you'll be faced with this page – It is possible to load and link images without joining, but I think it is best, and quite easy, just to sign up. Then it'll be organised for you for the future. Once doing so you can then use different folders and it is far better than a 'one-off' use for something – As you can see above, the format is reasonably straight forward and self-explanatory. I'll approach this from the point of view that you have a series of photos you want to post on a theme/thread and keep them separate from others that aren't relevant. One of the first things though I do is make a general folder, which is the 'Odds and Sods' one on the left – This folder is for all those photos that are just slipped in a thread and don't form a part of any report. The 'one-off' ones for whatever reason. Other folders will usually be relevant to just one report/theme. So you make a folder. Upload to it and for forums it may be best to initially set the size to 640x480 and see what you think. It should be big enough for effect. Setting the size to 800x600 will make the posted images definitely large enough, but may be too large. There is a way on the forum, once you post the resultant link, to alter the size if you think it is wrong, but that is another subject and it is best to get it right first time. If you want to know if you don't, then see me after class, but bring chocolate and tell your parents you'll be late home – After uploading to the folder you have just made or have selected, you'll see the following. A list of links. You can use the "Codes for all Images" if you need a different kind of link, but as said, leave it as shown for easiest for a forum. If you want to copy all the links, click the folder symbol to the right. You can adjust how the links are presented to you by columns etc and you can just select individual links by swiping and copy/paste if necessary. Just then go to the forum reply box you want and paste the links. The forum will then display them as photos. Or, if preferred, paste them onto a Word document where you can split them up using text relevant to the story between them. Then save the document, select all the text and links and paste it onto the forum. Click the "Preview" box on the forum reply/create thread to see if you've done it to your satisfaction before posting. If you have cause to go to a folder and you can't see the links, click on the "Share" icon and they will magically appear.

We all will have our own individual way to doing stuff like this on the website, but as a starting point...............

A simple "thank you" doesn't begin to cover it. You, Mark, are a SAINT! I did not know that detail about copying all the links at once & will study the tutorial further for more good stuff. Would you mind terribly copying your tutorial post and making a thread of it here in the Basics sub-board? A stand-alone thread on using Postimage is necessary, and your tutorial says it all. Thanks again!

I thought that Image Shack had forgotten me because I haven't paid them anything for years, which is a good thing because I don't use them all that much. I tend to use them for hosting random isolated photos (meals, strange sightings in the street, uploads from other sources...) and use PostImage for full photo reports. Anyway, guess what, Image Shack finally remembered me and asked for US$18.99 to validate me through December 2019. I paid.

ImageShack got my payment for the first year after their free photo-hosting went away. I haven’t heard a peep from them since.
Guess I’d better make sure my images still exist on this forum...

The recent ones come up huge, twice across the screen and I have a big monitor. Older are OK, but on the small side. These sites are a real PITA, I have abandoned photofucket and am using Postimages satisfactorily so far.

Yes, I have noticed that some of the ImageShack uploads became huge, but I think it is the case of photos that were uploaded without being signed in with an account.

The name of this thread is "What photo host site do you use/recommend?" Since slimy Photobucket is now offering a less stratospheric price to access our own pictures which they have been holding hostage, I would like to once again recommend FLICKR as the photo host site I use/recommend. I do this not only because I feel Flickr is the best option, but also in order to spite Photobucket, which has always sucked. The minuses: 1. I will admit that you have to go to a process beyond simple copy & paste in order to post your Flickr pictures here, but there is a tutorial. 2. Flickr only offers free storage for 1,000 photos. The pluses: 1. The quality/resolution is simply better on Flickr. 2. It displays your photos in sizes big enough for humans to see. No more squinting as a thumbnail the size of an ant's postage stamp. 3. The paid service offers unlimited storage. More information here: filtergrade.com/flickr-removes-1-tb-free-storage-adds-new-pro-features/You can sign up here: www.flickr.com/

Since the demise of Picassa I have used Flickr taking advantage of the the free storage but despairing of the editing suite that comes with it. Recently I've looked around again at other sites (since the recent changes which means that only 1000 images stored free of charge on Flickr) and finally decided to up grade to Pro ie pay for more storage. Jury's out ....

Luckily, I don't think I've ever used it. I spread my photo uploads across three other sites so that I will only be partically crushed when one of them disappears.

Yeah? So are you fully or partially crushed, or maybe only slightly dented to realize that there is lots of anyport stuff hosted on tinypic.

After the Photobucket debacle I don't automatically upload photos to any hosting site. I do it on an 'as and when' basis but keep several back up copies of all the photos on physical hard drives/memory sticks plus on two different computers.

I used it for a while for posting on here after having trouble with Photobucket. The last few garden pics I posted here just came directly from my computer.

I never knew a lot of people used it after 2009. Anyport officially began in February of 2009, with lots and lots of work being put into it before the great unveiling. So yeah, tinypic was pressed into service. Incidentally, tinypic is owned by evil photobucket. Before we get too far afield, I again urge everyone to read this notice as we only have until tomorrow to harvest whatever we have stashed on tinypic: tinypic.com/

I'm pretty sure all the threads I've populated with pics hosted by that hoster have already been deleted by the mods from here. Either that or I just can't find them.
