I don't even want to read the article (TMI) and even though I'm not a male, the whole subject makes me wince. I remember taking Renzo in for That Nasty Operation 15 years ago with a (human) male friend. He was seriously upset, and I didn't like the idea either. But one cannot live with an entire tomcat in a city flat.
That said, I'm glad if things can be reattached. We think not only of gross situations, but work accidents, battle injuries etc.

I suspect that the article was exaggerated, especially when the words "bit off" are used in the title, but the article just refers to "injuries" and says the victim only spent a few days in hospital.
