Beautiful photos Thill. My favorite would be the photo of the blacksmith working the iron. Why are the keys paperclipped to the fence? Cheers, Mich

Whew ~~ those pictures knocked me for a loop, Thill. Not only are they excellent photography, but they bring back so many memories. I used to live in Wilmington, and remember the NC coast, including Southport, so well.
Love the shots of the river, of the marsh, of the shadows cast by Spanish moss, the one of the tall brick building ......... well, all of it!

My father was born near Raleigh and my parents lived in Goldsboro for a few years, so I like the familiarity of the photos as well. Marshlands with scattered pine trees are a signature of that entire sector of the U.S. and they always make me feel that I know exactly where I am.

I hope the pics look okay on everyone's monitors. My monitor at work seems to be a little dark. ???Thanks for all the kind words...I'll be editing and posting some pics of my recent trip to France this week as well. The plan was to get them done this weekend, but I came down with a cold. Mich, Here's the story on the "key fence": www.wwaytv3.com/fence_keys_makes_everyone_artist/03/2010I just read about the posting size of pictures. I'll try to correct that for my France post...sorry!

Thill, I am glad to read the story was a happy one. I was afraid it was reflecting the state of real estate losses, a statement of those who lost homes due to the recession. It was nice to read a positive news story, you do not see them very often. Cheers, Mich

I think the debate in the comments after the article is hilarious.

My good friend lives in Wilmington and I visited the place for a few days in August 2009. I loved it. Beautiful place.
